I don’t think that you want to publicly admit that you are evading taxes.

What to expect for a discount??
Receipt? Last year (July 2020), I got $1000 off the older model. Sapphire sandwich on a leather strap. I forget the retail price. I didn’t ask for specific %. I asked for $1500 off and settled at $1000. 30% doesn’t sound credible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I guess there are probably some important details of the OP's arrangement that none of us have a way to know. For example, maybe the Omega dealer has a robust pre-owned watch business, and the OP was trading a highly sought piece (Sub, GMT, PP 5711, etc.) that the dealer was buying right. Maybe the dealer is his brother or sister. We just don't know.
I'm guessing there's a plausible reason the dealer offered such a bargain, and maybe the OP will share the rest of the story about it. |

I too was recently able to get a brand new Planet Ocean from an AD with a 30% discount- he was giving up the dealership and was clearing out his inventory. So anything's possible, however, I'm curious if the OP also got the Omega warrantee at that price (I did). Almost sounds like a gray market deal.

I recently managed a 12% discount on a Seamaster 300m - it was actually incredibly common in all the different ADs I went into.
This forum has become a strange place with constant demands of proof and doubt for for various claims - it all just comes across as jealousy to me. OP if you say you got 30% then well done to you - and I have no reason to question you, and well done. Wear it in good health |

I'm sorry, but what's the need for anyone to request a copy of the OPs receipt - simply to prove the discount, and thus justify the original claim. Heaven for bid the OP could have merely been sharing the information for all of our benefit... to know that discounts are still available. Alas the ferocity of doubt and questioning is enough to scare people of sharing information, on what is a public forum. People's disbelief is fine, but to question the validity of the claim, and demand proof is quire simply ridiculous. I stand by my point... TO ME it feels like the only rational explanation for disbelieving the OP, is merely jealousy that one's own negotiating wasn't quite as successful. |

30% is the only way I would buy one. I am used to getting massive disounts on Omega, I wouldn't pay near retail just because things are wild now. That being said, 30% isn't happening anymore. Especially not on a new speedmaster, there is no reason for them to discount it that deep. They could sell it to a grey dealer at 20% off all day long, and they have a line of customers that would probably take it at 15% off.

How would you respond if I noted that I got 10% discount on the Submariner at an AD? I might have gotten it but you are not inclined to believe. Just like OP likely got 30% on Speedie but majority won't believe unless proven otherwise. These are internet forums afterall. I don't care TBH, even Omega is getting too rich for my blood Congratulations on the new watch btw, wear in good health. SMP is every bit as good as advertised. |

I think the OP did not share enough info on how he was able to get 30% off for his first Omega watch so the purchase price after discount is US$ 5k.
The problem in my opinion is the way he said it, he created a new thread just to tell the community that he got 30% off and without tax on one of the most desirable Omega watches which personally I find it hard to believe |

Even if I was skeptical I have no reason to demand proof or believe you're lying... perhaps my mentality is just different. As you say individuality is what keeps these forums alive (and entertaining ) Thank you for the congratulations, the honeymoon period won't be over for a while yet! |

It’s not a thread, just a clickbait. OP threw it here and went away.

when I bought my SMP, I went to a local AD and said so and so online is selling for $2000 off, can you match it or at least lower it by $1500? They said to me they're not allowed to discount. So I bought it online. The online retailer tells me they source it directly from an Omega AD. I've had it for a few years now and I still can't justify paying more from an AD when they won't discount. It's not like it's a Rolex =p

The AD at the Incheon Airport was offering 30% off and no tax during October.
I went in last week to purchase one for that price, but the manager said that discount was for the old movement. All their watches now are new movement and the price is 10% discount and no tax. Hesalite, and Sapphire version. |

Hi,
New to the Omega section (well.. not too much posting elsewhere either) but just my 2 cents. Just asked couple AD:s for the availability of the new speedys and if there was room for a discussion about the price. Both responded quickly and had the goods. Discounts were little over 9% from the other and a bit over 13% from the other one. It was including taxes (no way around taxes without a company or going outside EU) and shipping from other city. I did accept the latter and if all goes well will be getting it soon! :) My first Omega! Have a great weekend! Lähetetty minun SM-G970F laitteesta Tapatalkilla |

I use to get 40% off steel Omegas but those days are gone for now. I haven't seriously been in the market for an Omega for a long time, except for the Ed White, which I paid retail for at the boutique and still haven't gotten (100% deposit plus tax), but today, 20% off a steel model is very good. At 30% off, which I have no doubt you achieved, you did very well. Enjoy your wonderful new watch.

It was probably 23% discount with no tax(6.6%) that made it 30%
I find it hard to believe OP would have received 37% off I received 25% off my X-33 skywalker but the breakdown was 12% off msrp with no tax (13%). |
