Love the watch and the history. Never knew about those bracelets. Thanks for sharing. And I agree with the others that it’d be a shame to sell it. But sometimes it’s the only thing that makes sense.

This is the kind of thing I would regret selling for the rest of my life. It wouldn’t be worth the money even if I was hard-up for cash.

I agree. But not everyone would agree with us and that’s okay.

I’m not having a go at you in particular, it’s more a reply to everyone above :)

I’ve never liked to see ppl tell someone not to sell something of this value… we have no idea what the OP’s situation is, and whilst I don’t know what it would be worth exactly, a SEAL worn 5508 with top provenance could help send his child to college, or be a deposit for a house etc. There’d be no shame in that, to put it mildly, and you would still have something of lasting value ‘from him’.

You would have to be doing very well for yourself for that sort of money not to be a consideration… it’s not a favourite old chair or a photo album!

The guy who wore that watch probably couldn’t even comprehend it being worth tens of thousands of dollars - and might be shouting at his ancestor to sell the damn thing and buy a Corvette

By all means keep it if you want to/can, it is a lovely heirloom - but selling it might be the best thing for the OP or his family, and if so then there’s no need to make him feel unnecessarily guilty

Absolutely awesome, agreed that I likely wouldn’t sell something like this but then again, I’m not in possession of a $50k + watch…
