I also love the 992 Carrera S that I had until yesterday. I found this beast….what a difference! Tolerable for most weekend trips, but I wouldn’t say daily driver, as it just has enough amenities for comfort (a/c, heat, Apple play radio, etc…)
But the noise….hell of a noise…above 7500rpm…wow!
And I had a very twisty, mountainous ride home yesterday for a couple hours. I live where I basically have a different “track” experience every day, within 10 minutes north, east, or west of my house.
So replacing the Carrera S with new 2019 (well 560 on odometer) GT3 RS, was a good choice for me.
It’s a bit more exciting, and different experience from the 488.
Hoping you find something after the holidays!
Whoah. Missed this party.

Nice dude. Huge congrats. Legendary car for a reason.

Man I love the GT3s, hope to trade up some day. How does it ride compared to a turbo (997 preferably lol) if you’ve been in both?

You never have to apologize for ever posting that beauty!
Huge congrats, nothing quite like a GT car especially when you hit that 9k redline!

I've never been in a 997 turbo but compared to a 991 it is much more of a loud and bumpy ride. The sound of road noise and the engine is ever present. Don't think I would love to spend time in it every day as a daily driver but the great thing about Porsche is it could be if you wanted it to be

I have owned my 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS QV since 2009. It was really the one I fell in love with as a kid. Then I watched Magnum just to see it.

I didn't buy my Rolexes until this year - still need to add a Pepsi though.

That GT3 is a absolute work of art.

I went in the opposite direction. Having 2 cars in NYC was completely impractical so turned my Cayman (made $$) into a red sub. Kept the Macan turbo for getting out of the city though. Kills me not to have something sportier but dealing with it is a pain in the neck.

991 is supposed to be a little less raw than a 997 but I’m sure gt3 is a step up. Probably like sport mode pasm or little more. I guess given how few miles I put on (sadly) the ride shouldn’t matter too much. Just that southeast mi roads aren’t exactly all nice lol.

I was just researching the F430. Still love it’s looks. I think it’s modern enough in the looks department to not look old, but it’s still classic sexy Ferrari. IMO it has timeless beauty. And more importantly, the gated stick with the V8 sounds like a winning combo.
How bad are the running costs?

Also, excellent thread. Most watch guys are car guys.

For whoever was asking, the 997 is definitely less refined than a 991. Fun but definitely feels like an older car. Which is nice for the go-cart feel.

I had a pretty decent Panerai collection I mostly sold off in 2003 when they were very hot. I bought an ‘89 328 GTB, which I kept until late 2019. Sold it for 3x what I paid for it and bought a 991.2 GT3 manual. I think if I work it backwards my GT3 cost me a handful of Panerai’s!

Anyone ever owned or had a go in a 430 Scuderia? That’s another interesting one for me and a car that I think will only be appreciated more and more in the future

It’s been my top pick for a long time. Best lines in the car game, imho.

But the more research I do, the more I realize I shouldn’t. Maintenance is supposed to be horrible as they are not known for being very reliable.

I also think it’s so high priced right now, I do doubt it’ll go higher. The market is so high, and this car is no exception. So many other options at this price point.

Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have this car. If I had unlimited funds, it would be in my garage for sure. Truly, best lines ever. But alas I do not. So I’ll just admire it every time I see and hear one.

A friend of mine has one, incredibly raw and sexy as hell. But a mechanical challenge owning one. It’s temperamental at times, but when she is running, wow. Just a different sound than my previous 458. Personally, I would go to the 458 or the Speciale version, it’s just that much better mechanically. But the Scud is sexy.

Yeah I think I’ve decided I’m getting a Ferrari (lol), now I just want to make sure I get the right one.

Still leaning F12 especially since 458 prices are crazy. Would love a Speciale but those were far more intriguing at 350 vs the 430+ today. Still think the F12 is just such an awesome value…and that v12!

You are on the right track, with a V 12, from Ferrari, there’s nothing on this planet like it. Plus you’ve got a track toy that is raw and full of energy. The F 12 will give you that but at the same time you can drive cross country with it and arrive relaxed, happy and not all stressed out from the drive. The car will not beat you up. I feel these will hold at this price at the very least or still go up in value. Any V12 replacement for the 812 are still a number of years away and with the Euro 7 rules and regulations, there are massive restrictions not only on emissions, but sound and decibel levels. And there still is no guarantee of a future V12 from Ferrari.

Very much appreciate your opinions given your track record of ownership.

No kidding.

If anyone wants a 13k mile 997 turbo and lsa powered pro touring 72 camaro in trade for their GT3… let me know lol. Kidding but not kidding.

My dream car is a 458. 430 scud is just too much $$ and everything newer than 458 doesn’t excite me the same.

Alas I couldn’t afford one when they were at bottom of their marker.

430 scuds are the same price and in many ways cheaper than 458s right now!

Summit F2000 - 1:10's
Summit GT3 - 1:19's

Longer track like VIR may be a bit closer but doubt it. I do not track the GT3 much.
