So it seems they are now trying to corner and own the secondary market. If they get to that point, there will only be a few large companies controlling inventory and market prices in the secondary market.

This does not bode well for the regular folks wanting to purchase watches for the purpose of actually wearing the.

Soon Rolex, PP, and AP are going to be like Ferraris, McLarens and Bugattis etc.

They have $150MM in inventory and annual revenue of app. $400MM in a $20B market growing to $30B.

They don’t control anything (except De Bethune). Do they “influence” the prices of ALS, Moser, and Groenfeld… sure.

The investment angle of watches is getting stronger and more mainstream

Prepare for that!

This is great! For the bubble concerned, they can now hedge their collection exposure by shorting watchbox! Next up, unsecured Daytona derivatives on an offshore exchange from the likes of Kraken.

For the owners for watchbox, very savvy while the public markets are still hot.

I dunno about going public …. Reporting to shareholders sucks big time.

Also, imagine the moaning from shareholders wanting “inside deals” on Daytona’s

Watches of Switzerland Group PLC is already publicly listed on the LSE. And trust me, shareholders do not get Daytonas.

I own some Tesla shares. I've been hounding Elon to move my reservation up from Summer 2022 to next month. No response, yet.

I might be in the minority here but found it interesting that RM makes more watches per annum than Lange. The article says RM sold 4300. From what I recall, Lange makes around 3600.

Seems like the arms race is own in the pre-market space with Hodinkee linking with Crown and Caliber and having investors like Tom Brady and now Watchbox with Michael Jordan

Very interesting. I would never have imagined something like this in 2007 when I got my first real watch - my sea dweller 16600 at around $4300 new. And no problem at all to get one.

Add to this the European ones: Chronext,

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ket-conditions

And Chrono24,

https://www.forbes.com/sites/roxanne...h-marketplace/

And of course watchfinder already being swallowed up by Richemont…..

Seems like we got a few of the bigger players in an international arms race…..

Interesting! Bill Ackman is certainly considered to be a savvy investor.

I doubt I’d invest in any future IPO, but if Watchbox indeed opens the promised “collectors’ lounge” in Miami (whatever form such a thing might take), I’d definitely go and check it out …
