Never bought a Rolex before!!

I'm looking to buy my first Rolex. I've seen this one, no box or papers but authenticated. With full refund option from a jewellers.
What do you think it's worth? Is it a good first buy?

Depends on the price. Also compare the price with others. Use chrono24 to browse prices.

How is it "authenticated"?

No idea what it is worth, cannot tell anything from that picture.

What is your budget? Do you want this as your first Rolex?

If it were me I would visit an authorized Rolex dealer and look at a variety of watches.

If you don't mind me asking - what is your budget? I would suspect there's better options available

Well for a first buy at least I would go to a dealer, preowned would still give you a deal comparable to what you can find online. As far as the picture from the watch, I honestly don't like it too much. What's your budget?

$750+ depending age, condition and if it's all original.

Yeah...agree with the above comments. No way of knowing if this is a good buy without a lot of information that's missing from your post.

The big question, though, is do you like it? And if the answer is yes, what are you comparing it against?

£1200 is budget. This is from a jewellers who specialise in second hand Rolex. It's not the original strap. I'm not sure what is good for a precision vs perpetual?
He wants £1800 for this watch?

I would assume "applied" means non-stamped or raised individual letters.

1800EUR gets you a nice quickset Datejust with B/P if you are willing to wait for one to become available.

Looks like an early 1960s 6694. It's small, and manual-wind, not automatic. Probably needs a service, which will be a few hundred extra. 1,800 pounds is very overpriced. Take your time (weeks or months, preferably), learn about Rolex, find a model you like, then shop for the best one you can find within your budget. Forget about this one.

I would get something from a trusted seller here on the forums. Would not buy an "authenticated" used watch from a non-AD missing original paperwork and a thorough knowledge of what I was buying.

I agree with what others have said. Spend some time exploring rolex as a brand and figure out what you like. This piece appears to be overpriced and unless your sure this dealer is reputable. You can't be sure that what your buying is original and authentic. I myself would purchase a preowned date just from a reputable dealer, here on TRF.

OP is from the UK, so for him TRF isn't a very good place to buy anything.

UK is the most over priced market in the world, but that is certainly well over priced. I would surf the classified here for a while, you should be able to get a good deal somewhere in Europe given the strength of the pound vs Euro. Some members here might be able to point you to reputable sellers in Italy or Spain.

None of us will encourage you to buy from an antique store as a first line. By authenticated it probably means they have pulled the back off, they will be unlikely to know if all the parts are genuine or tell you when the last service was. I have sold lovely vintage datejusts with service history for less than $3500 Australian, so you should keep looking. Here is example of a nice watch you could get for 2000 pounds.

I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole, at that price. At least in the US, you an buy a very nice DateJust for that price.

The 6694 is hot in the UK right now, I wish I could fly mine over and get these prices. In the US, they tend to sell in the $900-1200 range, even with bracelets.
