Possible to get 12% off new Rolex OP 39?

Hello all, still have my eyes on the OP 39 Rhodium. I plan to pick one up this weekend. I went to my local AD and they have the watch I want in stock. It retails for $5700. Is it possible to get it down to $5k even/12% off? I haven't asked yet because I didn't know it would be rude to ask for that much off or be laughed at or both. Just wanted yalls opinion if Im asking to much off. Tax here were I live is 8.25% and will pay with my AMEX card just for the points and security on my end. Thank you for the help.

will be easier to get a deal done with cash since they don't have to pay the 4% AMEX fee.
I also think that is a watch they would give a discount on, not like you are walking in looking for a SS sub asking for a big discount.

You may be out of luck at an ad, the rhodium dial is the most popular 114300!

My local AD is very generous and did mention 15% discount if I would pay in cash for a SD4000.
They even suggested shipping out of state to a family or to a close friend in order to avoid IL state tax. LOL

It never hurts to ask.

I would emphasize the cash angle and the out of state shipping option. By opening with those two items you should get them nodding north and south. Those 2 steps are cost avoidance that doesn't touch their bottom line.
Then move to the ways they can sharpen their pencils on the list price...a question like, "OK, we've eliminated something like 10%, now what can you do to help me on the $5700? How about $5000 cash - do you have the power to approve that, or do we need to talk to the owner?"

I just bought a BNIB Basel OP 39mm from a trusted seller here for 16% discount.
Came from a USA AD, and the warranty card has my name on it and AD name stamped on it. Came with box, papers etc. Very pleased.
If you're not in a big hurry, you'd probably have one in a week or two. They are around.

Totally doable. Kindly ask "is there any room for negotiation on this piece? I'm interested in buying today if we can make a deal. Then tell them what you're looking to pay. Ask for 15% though if you want 12

Don't be offended if they refuse, thank them for thier time and leave

I often pull out my phone and do the math then show them the number I'm looking to meet on my phone so as not to advertise the deal around the showroom. I've found my AD appreciates discretion.

Agee with this. I would ask for 15% and see where it goes. Use discretion as most AD's do not want to advertise they will discount.

If a eurotrip is on the cards this year you might want to consider purchasing abroad for a better deal given prices and exchange rates. Thats what I did last month for my 116000 in blue.

If not, ask for a discount. if you don't ask you don't get. I was offered out of state shipping too but I wasn't going to get a better deal than the UK right now given the exchange rate and I was going to be there.

Yeah, when I was dealing with an AD he tapped away on his calculator for what seemed a long time and then showed the figure to me. I shook my head so he tapped away again and produced another number. Don't think we said a word.

On this OP, I'd pay the $5k to an AD otherwise go with a trusted seller.

Any chance of saying where from? By PM is perfectly fine

I'm in the market for a blue dial in a couple of months if all goes to plan work-wise.

That should not be an issue. I think that is a fair discount even with Amex in the mix.

Unless its a DaytonaC or BLNR you should get a discount. 10-15% on an OP should be easy almost anywhere.

The AD I was at offered it to me for $5,200 before I even inquired about the price. I imagine if I was interested, they would have probably done $5,000 with no issues.

I think any reasonable AD should be willing to give 10-15% off any Rolex model that's not a stainless Sub, GMT, or Daytona.

Once you establish a relationship, no need for a show. I picked up on this when my AD manager closed an aggressive offer I made immediately because:

A) I am a well liked customer

B) there were other customers shopping nearby

Just tested the theory again recently and my offer was immediately accepted with a handshake and thank you for being a good customer.

Thats good business no matter how you shake it. AD has plenty of margin to make money on my leaner than average deal and the other customers observe another happy customer pulling the trigger vs some guy negotiating hard. Win win.

I'd say there is now, if you're in the US. I bought mine when they first started trickling in to the ADs and the rhodium dial was still very hot, so no discount.
