Datejust vs Oyster Perpetual Date

Been looking at some models for my wife, and there is a Datejust 31 and a Oyster Perpetual Date 34 that may be potentials for her. Aside from the sizes, what is the real difference between a Datejust vs an Oyster Perpetual Date?

The main difference is the jubilee bracelet on datejust. The 34mm date only comes with oyster (fairly sure). Ask your wife which bracelet she likes more.

She's leaning towards the oyster, as she already has a dress watch. She's looking more for a daily wearer type watch (and wants a date feature), so we think the oyster bracelet fits that bill more.

I am wondering though, what is the purpose of having an Oyster Date model, if it's almost identical to the Datejust, which does have the option of an Oyster bracelet as well.

The date is the only Rolex in 34mm. It is considered unisex size. It fills a size hole it the Rolex lineup. 34mm can work for men, boys, and ladies depending on preference and wrist size. It is also a inexpensive entry point into the brand.
