Change Rolex Strap

Got a new Everest rubber band. I am wondering if most people on this forum are DIY or going to a jewelry shop to replace a strap. If going to a jewelry shop, how much does it cost? Are you worrying if they might scratch the watch?

Thanks

DIY, then again I've been changing straps for decades and have the proper tool(s). If in doubt, have your local AD do it for you.

Most of us change our own straps and have the tools to do it. I use a nice set from Bergeon. I change straps too often to go to an AD, and not all my watches are Rolexes, so it would be way too inconvenient to rely on ADs.

When you do it first time with Bergeon tools, is it easy (no scratching or anything)?

I change my own straps...with great care and the proper tools. My local jeweler charges $8 for a strap change.

If you are careful, it should not scratch anything. To be safe, I would tape the lugs as that is the area that gets hit.

As solo stated. If youre doing it for the first time and concerned, just tape the lugs.

I do it myself I have a Bergeon 6111 and I use thinmaskingtape for the lugs. It takes practice to figure it out, and even still Rolex is more difficult than any other watch IMO. There are also some spring bar tweezers sold by Esslinger.com they run about $90 but I think they're worth it.

Never had a bracelet off ever until about 3 months ago when needed to remove/ send to Michael Young

Believe it or not I followed a clip on YouTube that showed the whole process

I would recommend doing it yourself. I have had Jewelers scratch some of my watches while doing adjustments. So no guarantee that their work will be better than yours. Just recently put an Everest strap on a sub for the first time and it was pretty easy. They even had a step by step video on you tube!
