My Vintage Tudor Oyster - Probably a franken or refurbished?
Hi, I've owned this vintage Tudor Oyster watch about ten years now.
I bought it before I knew much about watches or vintage watches and though I'm not an expert today, I've learned a thing or two and I feel more and more curious to know some facts about this particular vintage Tudor which was one of my first and which I still love for its elegance and style. I do think that this might be one of those they call a franken watch, made of different watch parts. Or the dial at least might be refurbished. Can anyone tell me some more? The movement is marked Tudor and 17 rubies and inside case back there is number 7962. On dial there is a small rose and it says Tudor, Oyster, Shock Resisting and Swiss Made. |

Something is wrong there. A 7962 is a date model. Most likely the case lost its movement somewhere down the road and a movement was dropped in from a 7934 with a really bad aftermarket dial.

Thank you for information. So it is like I was afraid, both franken and redialed.
Any knowledge what this watch might be worth like this, or if I choose to sell movement and case seperately? Maybe I just keep it and use it. At least I know that there is a genuine Tudor-movement ticking in a genuine Tudor-case, even if they are not originally a matching pair. |

Its probably worth about what you paid back then, only a few hundred.
