Finding a 6263 dial...am I dreaming?

A friend of mine who buys 7 figure estates came up with a 6263 recently. Its a legit piece that has a trashed silver w/black dial. I believe it is a mk3 since the pushers have the groove.

I did a few quick searches and think I know the answer to this but I thought I'd ask. Am I totally dreaming and searching for a unicorn if I pick it up with the hopes of trying to find an original dial for sale?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

It is possible. Will probably cost you 4-5k usd but should be doable. What is the serial?

Another possibility which might be cheaper is to go to RSC and have them fix it. It is usually the shitty way to do this but if the original dial is toast and pushers are mk3 I don't see a huge risk. If your bezel is nice make sure they don't switch that as well. As far as I know they will only sell a new dial if they get one back so if yours have one, regardless how bad, you should be able to get a proper Rolex service dial if you can't source a correct dial for the project.

Best of luck!

Boy if that is true that is encouraging news. I thought if I could find one the price would be at least double that.

You'll find out for sure when you find one. I might be 4-5k off.

Are you looking for an early, a sigma or a big red? Guessing you will need some luck but they are around for sure. Later is more hard to find from my experience. Should be the opposite..

Usually the ones for sale aren't super mint. Those are already in new watches..

The question could be answered by a few of the pro's around here in that dept. Gentleman/Dealers like Michael Morgan in SoCal, or Jacek at HQ Milton in San Francisco that are members here on TRF could easily answer these questions without uncertainty. Search them out here on TRF, PM them, and get a better evaluation of your situation before you commit to a unicorn project.

Congrats on the find! We'd love to see some pics if possible!?

Good luck

Thanks good idea it never occurred to me to contact Jacek; duh! Emails are already sent to ABC, Rik, etc.

"unicorn project" yeah, my fear is this could end up being a big money pit with no hope of ever finishing. That is likely why this piece was sitting in the back of the safe and not being fixed by the previous owner.

RSC will get you a proper service dial so you are good as long as the watch has a dial. Condition doesn't matter as long as it is original. Of course value is affected but it is still a very valuable and nice watch.
