Power reserve question?

I wear my WG Daytona everyday, and have for the few months that I've had it. I work in an office but walk around quite a bit. The watch sits overnight in a box, not on a winder.

This weekend we were doing yard chores and one day we never really left the house so I never put it on. This morning it was dead. The time showing was 7:45 when I put it on at about 8:15, so I assume it ran out or steam this morning just before I put it on.

Does that seem normal? Barely one day of reserve power?
Does normal walking, grocery shipping (and walking to the fridge to get a beer) keep it wound enough?

I don't want to buy a winder, but I'd hate to set this every time I skip a day.

as far as i am aware the power reserve should be approx 45 hours. these normal activities are usually enough to keep mine wound- the longest was 36 hours without touching and it was still going.

I try to wear my SS Sub at least 3 to 4 hours a day to keep it wound even if I'm around the house. I think any type of movement from the wrist will keep it wound.

I normally take it off about 8pm, then skipped a day and put it on at 8am on the way out the door to work, so that's 36 hours+. Hhhmmmm.....

since like me you take it off everynight maybe it is not fully wound- only three quarters. that is just a presumption but i suppose it would make sense.

If you have worn it most of the day up to the rest and have an active style of life, I would say your Rolex should not have stopped. But if you only wear it like 6 hours a day and/or have a less active style of life, the power reserve would have run down and the resting the watch would have made it finally stop.

Actually, the PR on a Rolex is adequate.

If you wear a Rolex for around 10 hours a day, you can actually keep it aside the next day.....and when you wear it the day after that, you will find it's still going.

The BEST and EASIEST way to check the PR on your Rolex is this....

Set the watch to say 12 noon and note the date. Give it around 45 turns of the crown and set it aside in a safe place.

Check 48 hours later and note when the watch has stopped. I have managed 47+ hours with some my Rollies with this simple test.

It depends on whether or not you are running the chronograph function all the time. That will shorten the power reserve considerably. Someone smarter than me knows by how much.

I wear it about 12 hours a day, and I would say I move around quite a bit. Certainly not just sitting at a desk. I never use the chrono function, at least not a lot, so its never running all the time.

I will try some tests, but this seems dissapointing....

I think the daytona reserve is 72 hours.

I have had numerous Rolex examples. I have always noticed the lack of power. I just purchased an AP offshore chrono. It definitely has a better PR function at least 50 hours. Not a knock on Rolex just an observation. I am thrilled with the AP especially the PR

I wear my BLRO nearly every day, usually for 10+ hours. On mornings when I'm not planning to wear it (usually only if I'm playing golf or intending to work on the car), I wind it ~50 turns before setting it back on my nightstand.

It hasn't quit on me since I adopted this routine.

I just recently purchased a Yacht Master 40 MM. This is my first Rolex so I been babying it and wearing not too often. While I don't wear I noticed that my watch is always dead as I wear only twice a week. Every time I wear I have to wind and I wind them about 45 times. So out of curiosity I timed how long the power reserve last after winding and despite the catalog showing 70 hrs mine is only lasting 47 hours after a full wind of 45 times and just sits in the safe place. Is this normal?
