Incoming! Montegrappa Micra in red. Gold nib.

I've had my eye on this pen for a few months. I came across some for sale on eBay for a really great price a while ago and couldn't get it out of my head. It's like a miniature version of my red Emblema visually. The Micra is resin and the nib is smaller though. Both have silver trim and gold nibs. I suspect the smaller gold nib will swap to my blue Espressione. Looks like a #5. That would be awesome if it transfers over!

The pen writes similarly to the bigger Emblema but it's much shorter and narrower in diameter. Posted it's a good writing length. Un posted its on the verge of not making it. I have medium gloved hands so larger hands will need to post it to write. The nice thing is the threads to post the pen are short so it's quick and secure to thread on and post. I can't really grip the section to write with it as the section and nib are very short. I hold the pen on the body just above the threads. In the taper to the body. I'm going to see how she runs at work tomorrow and how the shorter size applies to the real world.

I originally saw the pen on eBay for a low price. I kicked it around for a week because I really don't need another pen this month lol. Well I finally decided to pull the trigger at about 11pm a week ago and I swear, they doubled the price out of nowhere! Screw that! I made an offer and the seller countered at a much lower price than asking, but still, not even close to the previous price. I did some searching and found the pen being sold through newegg from the same guy on eBay at the original lower price. Rather than screw around on eBay I just bought it through newegg and it was drop shipped. I don't get how newegg's commission is less than Ebay but I guess that's the way it is.

One more cool thing about the pen. The material is translucent so the silver Montegrappa text on the refill can be seen through the resin.

That is stunning!

In all my years of collecting I do not have a Montegrappa in my collection. I am on the prowl for a couple.

Congratulations!

Thanks guys. I've been using the pen all day and it's running great. The size isn't even really a problem un posted. It's a nice change of pace and a fun pen to write with. Tomorrow though, it's back to the Watermark inked up with some shimmering Diamine blue lightning. That looks great sloshing around in the reservoir.
