Best place to buy Rolex in Rome/Venice/Paris

Taking a trip with the wife and was thinking of picking up a Rolex for myself or my better half while overseas.

I already mailed Bucherer in Zurich where we are grabbing a connecting flight, but even before VAT their prices are the same as locally (I believe Switzerland is one of the more expensive places to buy a Rolex).

May be on the lookout for a new/used Panerai as well, so if anyone has some shopping tips or stores I can visit that would be great. As I am not an EU citizen, the prospect of claiming back the VAT is very tempting.

Thanks in advance

If you want a popular SS you will struggle in Europe now, if you want a DJ or TT you're laughing.

The wife can get a ladies DJ, smooth bezel on jubilee for $6550, and we should be able to get 15% back, totaling $5560. This price is in Venice. How does that sound?

How much is that off retail? If 10% or more then it's a very good deal.

5% off their asking price and then we claim back another 15%. BUT, list here is a lot more than back home resulting in a small saving if you can slip through customs. That being said, list according to the Rolex Euro site for this model is a lot less than their asking price.

The AD in Venice is in St Mark's Square boasting the most hair-raising prices I've seen!

Is this an AD? Asking for above retail on a ladies DJ?

It is an AD so I assume this is list price. It is a bit of a pain navigating the site changing locations to compare. I did another search and this seems to be list price for this location. Not much of a saving, I suppose our poor currency is to blaim.

That is the store we visited. Still mulling over a DJ for the wife, but might try Paris instead.

If you’re very lucky you’ll find a YACHT-Master/Milgauss or Air King. If you’re after steel subs/GMT etc I’d say look away from the ADs.

Sounds like there’s no more popular models in AD

There are several ADs in Rome, including Bedetti in Piazza Silvestro and a couple Haussmann stores on Via Condotti and the Corso. Eve, more interesting are the many, many vintage/ pre-owned dealers which are all over the city. It is something special to purchase a Rolex with Italian papers, because it is the birthplace of Rolex collecting.

Pretty much true unless you’re a good AD customer

Also De Pascalis (AD) on Via Venetto (on the same level as Villa Borgehese)
Last place to try your luck - in tax-free Rolex store in Fiumicino airport
