My watch journey continues...I've always loved science/space travel and the idea that we as humans have a duty to explore and understand our universe.
When I started getting into watches I've always been drawn to dive watches, living near the ocean and always in the pool or at the beach growing up in south Florida. So a Chronograph wasn't super high on my list. Started off like most do when with they first learn about mechanical watches, with a Seiko. I won't catalogue my journey from there, but as I began to read more forums/youtube channels/blogs I began to notice the Speedmaster Professional, but always would veer toward an SMP or PO, when looking for high-end divers. I ended up skipping over those watches as my means expanded and got a Rolex Sub, and I can't see going back to the SMP or PO now, but I've always respected Omega and wanted to add one to my collection. Now I knew my Chrono wasn't going to be getting wet, and I've felt I don't really have a "dressy" piece, as occasionally I attend cocktail/work events that are on the formal side. After learning about the Speedmaster, the movement, the space pedigree and seeing the watch on Leather Strap, I knew this could fit a lot of occasions I don't really have the "right" watch for. I began looking all over the web, constantly "almost" buying the watch and browsing sites/dealers for the watch. I had been feeling a little down recently and I have a formal event coming up this weekend and figured, if not now, then when.... So without further ado...

Thanks, it's the most "Basic" Speedmaster Pro, but after doing research I knew I wanted the Hesalite and I wanted the strap for the more formal appearance. Its a watch they say every "serious" collector should have, and I couldn't be happier right now.

That's a classic!! Very nice addition. I absolutely love the calfskin strap with the deployment clasp. That's what I have on my Co-Axial Speedmaster. I'm constantly trying other straps - NATOs, Zulu Divers, leather, whatever - but I always come back to the black calfskin + Deployment Clasp.

Does the Moonwatch, Hesalite come with Alligator or calfskin? I've read multiple accounts. I'm not an expert to be able to tell, lol.

It’s textured calfskin with an alligator pattern. My Speedmaster has sapphire glass.

That disappointing, also your band fits tighter to the case than mine, but it looks like they are different bands, I prefer the look of yours, but still love the watch.
