Choices between 2 1680

What do you guys think. The one on leather strap has a luminous seconds hand. The one on bracelet has glowing hour minute seconds hand

They both seem to have been polished a few times, the one on the oyster has lost significant amounts of metal around the crown guards, both are quite skinny in the lug department..

What I don't understand is how come the chamfers are still so sharp even with a few polish. The dealer said it's not polished ...

.....simply because the case has been "re-cut". A while ago, watches I saw in the adds had cases with worn edges / chamfers ("dans leur jus" as we say in French), now it seems that the "chamfers" mania has led people (sellers) to re-cut the cases. We have now 50 years old watches with brand new "unpolished" chamfers ;-)

It’s one of life’s sad truths that dealers aren’t always 100% accurate in their description of their wares...

I thought in Italy it would be a bit better to shop vintage. Sadly proven not to be the case. But I have to say the recut was done quite nicely. Thank you so much guys learn a lot from you every day!

Yeah, and 100% "accurate" is synonymous with 100% ""...

As previously noted, the polish on each of these would make them a pass for me as well.

Pass; polished and cut. Plus, hands look mismatched on the first one too?

The dealer is mistaken. He's a salesman . . . trying to hype and sell a watch to the unknowing buyer.

Not trying to trash the dealer but it was his own words. 'It's best to buy vintage watches in top condition in this country. ' after the watches were exposed under light for a while I then realized it stilll glows otherwise I would have made an irreversible mistake.
