Rolex 16550 1991 Service Dial

Hi, trying to get some info on a ROLEX Explorer 2, bought in 1991, but dated 1998. It has the fat font bezel, full Rolex service in 2008 but the dial is very white and has 'Swiss Made' in the bottom. From other watches i've seen most have the Swiss T <25 dial.
Does this mean that the watch has a service dial??
Presume that lowers the cost!

I don't know that it's particularly collectible. For some having working lume is an advantage so the service dial might make it more valuable depending on the buyer. I'm not certain why the card was dated until 1998 if it was bought in 1991. '98 was when Luminova was introduced so if it was actually made in '98 it could have a Luminova dial that year but unlikely that it would have a service dial unless there was a problem with the dial. If it was actually made in '91 then it is a replacement service dial.

Sorry the serial number dates it to 1988 but bought in 1991. Rolex service cert in 2008.
Apologies

The Rolex Explorer II had problems with some of the early dials not glowing. Rolex did replace a lot of them with the luminova. This could be the reason you have this dial. I wouldn’t worry about it.
