I have three Breguets now, and will pick up a 4th. That is how much pleasure I get from mine. I can't get enough, hand-turned guilloche (or their excellent enamel) is so nice. |

Lange 1815 was my choice. I chose the 40mm, but also available in 36mm which will set you back about USD 15k pre-owned.
It is gorgeous and the movement is amazing.

I'd go lange. I wear a plat lange 1 as my dress watch, but an 1815 or sax would be perfect too!

I went Lange, but also love my Reverso. Just something different. If I had to choose, the Lange wins, but only because it's just gorgeous.

Calatrava looks are sharp, very elegant and my favorite for a dress watch for life.

The 38mm VC Patriomony Small Seconds is the best dress watch on the market under $25k IMO. Just exquisite. A used Patek 5196P would be a close second.

I think the answer depends on exactly how formal you want your dress watch to be.
The calatravas and the VC patrimony (both in WG) are extremely formal, and consequently not incredibly versatile. Same goes with the Saxonia. The 1815 (which I think absolutely pops in RG) while obviously dressy, is still very versatile. So much so I think you could wear it with jeans and a polo and it would look killer, not out of place. Something about the blue hands make it incredibly versatile. The Breguet is somewhere in the middle. Dressier than the 1815, but not on the PP/VC black-tie level. Also, try out that Journe before you but any. I can understand not considering a CB because it's not exactly the type of dress watch you're looking for (I actually think it's very smart casual). |

Maybe slightly out of place in this group but I would give Glashutte Original a look.
I just purchased a Senator Excellence in SS but they have some really classy options in precious IMO. |

ALS Saxonia Thin 37. Under $15K. Pure elegance
1815 nice too but the Sax is worthy of consideration given the price point and no sacrifice on quality |

I will definitely go for a regular 1815 current version 38.5mm, you will find yourself still wearing this and won't be out of trend even after 30 years...

This one you can dress up and down. My issue with going towards a pure dress watch is that for most people there are limited opportunities to wear it. The CB given its dimensions and with the right strap can be that dress watch, but it can also easily be worn with short sleeves and sneakers.
