Datejust 2 or Datejust 41? And why?

My AD called and is giving me a great deal on a Blue stick dial smooth bezel Datejust 41. How does it differ from its predecessor the Datejust 2?
I’m a big guy 6’6”. Will the Datejust 2 look bigger?
Thanks

DJ2 will look bigger.

Being tall doesn't really have anything to do with your wrist size.

I know it's a close up, but that DJ2 looks like it's almost too big for your wrist. I'm sure it's fine though.

ADs are offering significant discounts on DJ2s right now because most people prefer the DJ41. Then you have a lot of guys who also prefer the 36 over the 41 and DJ2. Never felt like the DJ2 really took off.

At the end of the day, just buy what you like. Try on both, but get the one that appeals to you, not just because it's a great deal.

I went with the DJII as I love the bigger bezel that looks like they injected steroids! Try them both on and see which feels better.

I had them both on and honestly would be happy with either. I couldn’t tell much of a difference

I read mixed reviews about the DJ2 where some felt it wasn’t a “hot” and wouldn’t keep value while others swear by it

Obviously I’m not picking it for just the value but it wouldn’t hurt to pick the one that keeps better value especially that i like them equally
Thanks guys

i have had both (currently got a DJ41) and there isnt a massive difference between them to be honest.... personally i prefer the jubilee on a datejust hence the reason i have the DJ41 now as it wasnt an option on the DJII and the refined indices on the dial i prefer on the DJ41

try them on and go with what you like

I´ve had both in my hands and the DJ2 looks bigger but i love the combination of the WG bezel and the jubilee, so I own now the DJ41.

Currently, DJII as it is being sold cheaply and will take less of a hit than the 41 when the winds of change blow again.

I like DJ41 better. the markers are thinner, which I like.

I have and love the DJ2 because of the bigger size fluted bezel, case and batons. The DJ41 with batons reminds me of the DJ36 my dad bought in the early 80s.. something about the thin batons.

If you want the jubilee bracelet and/or the new movement get the DJ41. If you want it to wear larger with a slightly more sporty appearance get the DJII.

If you are torn between the two, you should be able to pick up a DJII for a pretty big discount over the 41

DJ41 is a bit more refined and looks great on the wrist. The one on your photo is a DJII yes?

I like the jubilee bracelet on the Datejust - which would limit my choice to the DJ41, which is a lovely watch. However , for my personal taste, I would prefer it to be larger.

DJ41 - I liked the dial proportions and lower profile on my wrist.

Here is my DJ2 next to my Explorer 2 for size comparison. The DJ2 is every bit of it’s 41mm size and I prefer it to the current DJ41

I love the beefier, more aggressive profile of the DJ II. It just adds an element of sportiness to the watch compared to the new 41. Both are nice pieces though. No wrong answer here.

I prefer the DJII on my 7.5" wrist. New ones seem a bit on the small side for me.

DoctorA - Holy Okea! I imagine your AD is giving you a deal...didn't you just pick-up 1 SD Blue and 1 SD Black?

I prefer the fluted bezel over the smooth. It appears larger on the wrist to the eye. I'm 6'4, 225 and my 36mm TT DJ looks great without being 'in you face'.

Enjoy and wear in good health!!
