I see giant Apple billboards everywhere, not sure they are failing. It's all part of marketing

So authorized dealers advertise and the brand is in trouble?

Please explain

Why bother advertising when you can't meet demand apparently, cut the advertising budget and get it back into production already.

You probably jest, but I bet Rolex hates that. Omega does, failed lawsuit:

Certain AD's have co-op marketing funds that Rolex provides for their Stellar performers. An example would be an ad costs $1500 and Rolex might co-op up to 50% and re imburse dealer. As long as the ad is compliant and the brand advertising is approved by Rolex. You will see more towards the end of the year due to the "use it or loose" it allocation of advertising funds. Same goes for auto manufacturers and other high ticket items. Rolex isn't in trouble just their dealers taking advantage of funds that need to be used before year end.

This would be spot on. I work for an oem and it’s not just if you don’t spend it you lose it then they give less the next year.

We wait all year for requests but they don’t come in if they themselves don’t need to market so in the end we push the funds out.

We've always had a couple bilboards around the KC area. Seems like about one per dealer. You rarely, if ever, see them advertising the sport models. It's a cheap way to reinforce the brand image/price to everyone, not just Rolex owners. We don't need an ad, but we DO want Rolex to do their part in keeping our collection values up. That being said, there are a TON of non-sport models in cases everywhere that I'm sure ads help move.

We did a little research into the marketing strategy of Rolex a few years ago, Well to be honest we wanted a trading and advertising link within a UK Maritime sector with reference to the Submariner & Sea dweller plus Yacht-master

After further investment ideas and plans were put forward we were unable to gain a trade link.

My own directors had come to the conclusion that Rolex could cease trading for the next 6 years and still be one of the wealthiest companies on the planet.

So is Rolex in Trouble - Not a chance

Let's have a look at the largest advertiser on the planet, P&G... are they failing?

Hmmm, market cap of about $250B, 3% dividend, up about 6% YTD, and I wager heavily that at least 50% of this thread has multiple P&G products in their house.

Some of the stuff people post on the internet

If advertising meant a company was in trouble I'd be happier to see the Stauer ad in my monthly American Rifleman. Alas, it is not so.

The Rolex Foundation is doing fine. It takes money to advertise and any brand that can spend tons of it just on just that is doing very well.

The only trouble the brand has is supplying stock.

They are surely doing just fine. That said, with constant yearly price increases and the average salary not climbing much in many parts of the world, I think sales might slow down. But then again, I am not an economist.

Posting a thread can be hazardous (LOL) "is this a serious question" ..considering the past decline in SWISS exports, younger people not wearing watches as much, competition with smart watches, I thought this was a valid question. I have admired the brand for years but lately I seen an advertising blitz in my region. ....I guess we can move this thread to the IS IT SAFE to buy a ROLEX category and the answer seems to be IT'S SAFE... Cheers

Probably more in demand than they have ever been. Even when the smartwatches are essential living instruments I'd imagine Rolex will become a kind of formal occasion thing where people leave the beeping flashing electric doodads at home.

Advertising pays, always did, when your on top you don't sit idle. I always see Rloex billboards on the freeways, make me smile too.
