Trying to choose new watch

Looking for a new addition. Will rotate with gmt 2 blnr, and 1680/8. Buying preowned. Not buying as investment as plan to keep ams pass to son with others but certainly want it to hold value. Choices:
1. 116515 Daytona with cream dial
2. 118206 platinum president.
Will wear daily to work with shirt/tie

I would have gone with the president if it had been a 40, but from your choices I would go Daytona.

I agree would love the 40 but $45K preowned is more bat than I can swing.

Does it have to be platinum? If you open it up to the other precious metals, then you're looking at 24-25k pre-owned.

My dad had an 18kt 1803 that I’ll inherit someday so don’t want 2 18kt YG. Maybe rose. I have mixed feelings on WG as I have read they still need rhodium plating from time to time though I’ve also read that’s not true.

i like daytona's more than day dates. I sold my day date. I don't miss it, I do miss my 16710, to a lesser degree the 16622.

I don’t think until you own it and paid for it you’ve ever settled. The amount of times I e looked online, dealers, tried on and ended up with something completely different. The journey evolves my friend. It’s all part the fun. Go with on the day and never look back. It’s only money and you’re a long time gone

+1 although nothing like a Platiunum flagship Rolex. It's the pinnacle of their watch making.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I’m leaning towards plat president. I’m 41 and both my job and hobby are work. I’ve never bought myself a watch and feel it will be a thing of great pride. My Batman was a gift from my wife for my 40th birthday and sub was bought new in 1971 by my father who never wore and gave to me several years ago. This will be 1 I chose and buy. Again, I appreciate all the input. Happy Holidays!
