WatchTime Article - Rolex Versus Patek

I was excited to see this on the cover of my latest Watchtime Magazine. IMHO, the two finest mechanical swiss watches in the world. It was extremely interesting. I don’t want to ruin any of the article here, but was curious if any other TRFers read it and what do they think? Please feel free to post any article info you feel interesting

Recently a thread along the lines of “What does your Rolex mean to you” was decimated as a commenter linked to an article he wrote for Rolex magazine. His comments were frequently quoted and everyones’ posts were deleted I think due to violating the forums rules of linking to competing interests.

Thank you for posting that briefly appearing article. It's a good read, and nicely balanced.

If you mean askdanny's post (#17) and link int this thread, I don't recall anything being removed, and there's no sign of such action in the thread record.

I find Rolex to be the King of luxury watch marketing. No one better. They have convinced most of the world they are the best mechanical watch movement in the world and they are known everywhere you go. I think Patek makes just as good as a movement and find some of the their designs to be better; however, if you ask 10 people who is Patek, 9 of them would not know what it is or have never heard of them.

WatchTime offers digital subscriptions. I have this on my iPad. Magazine is released at the same time as print.

Well you are absolutely correct! I looked at the thread soon after it appeared and all posts quoting Danny were gone. I don’t know how I could have been so incorrect, but obviously was. Thanks for pointing out his link still exists!
