My 2004 BNIB Pepsi GMT i bought last year, still had all the stickers on. Didn't do any any damage to the watch. I would wear it and get the enjoyment out of it myself.

I read some people put tape on the watch inner clasp so that the clasp does not scratch the bracelet as much with opening and closing. If you plan to put some tape on the bracelet links to prevent scratching, I strongly suggest you use acid free tape. It's made by 3M and you most probably will only find it at an art supply store. It's acid free and neutral. Usually used to mount photographs and prevent damage to the photographs so that they last 100 years.
