Just Tried On the New Exp II
Ok, I've waited patiently to see what it looked like in person, from the pics it did nothing for me Today I got a call from Hamra Jewlers as they had a white one to try on These are my thoughts:
Looks better in person, hands are great and very visible Much more substantial than I would have thought, thicker, bigger and just heavier overall The clasp is awesome, very solid, feels incredible well made Bracelet is great, solid, heavy, you know you are wearing something of quality While 42mm it feels bigger, much bigger The face is large and the writing just seems a font too small Overall feel on the wrist, great Overall look, IMHO Not for me, for sure. After owning an older EXP II, black dial, I am more motivated than ever to own a white dial On the bright side I saw a LNIB, pre-owned, TT Datejust with the Gold TAPESTRY DIAL and stick markers that I can see owning very soon. It's on a zero stretch jubilee band |

At least now, having tried it on and seeing it in person, you know it's not for you.....
I'm sure a new interest will follow soon!

I tried it on today too, unfortunately at the jeweler that I DIDN'T put a deposit with to hold a white dial version for me lol.
It was EVERYTHING I expected and I believe it to be best looking watch in their current line up IMHO. The proportions of the watch are perfect, it was drop dead gorgeous. My heart was racing while wearing it and checking it out. I do believe that it wouldn't look good on someone with small wrist, I have pretty thick wrist and it looks like a 40mm watch does on most guys. |

I have a 7 1/4" wrist & the one watch that I have in 42mm I think is just alittle too big at times & other times it doesn't bother me. Now I'm thinking that it may be the thickness of the case & bezel that makes it appear too big. I'd have to see the new EXPII on for myself I guess to make determination.

At least you got to try it on and give it a fair shake before moving on to the next one, which it sounds like you already have on your radar!. It is not for everyone. I sold off my 40mm white dial years ago in search of the next great thing. Only watch I ever missed. I was sure I was going to buy the white dial 42mm but instead ended up with a black dial site unseen, with the help of a fellow TRF member. I love the watch and have worn it for a week. Today another AD called and had a white. I had to go look. Long story short, now I own both but will be letting go of the black I think.
I have big wrists(not sure how big) but my daily wear flop between a Big pilot and a Deep sea, so to me the 42mm is perfect. |

I agree that the font is a little too small. I just started noticing that myself but it's not a deal breaker for me.

If my wrist was larger I would give it more careful consideration

Hey John!
I was just in Hamra and took a pic with that same Exp II. I posted a pic not too long ago. Probably the same exact watch. When I was in there, they had just got it in that day. Haha Great piece! Still want my DSSD or Sub-C first though. |

Tried one on and really liked the look and the "feel." But, I just couldn't justify getting one while still in love with my "old" Exp II white dial.
