Shouldn't have tried it. I blame Cru and Mike...

So, I want a new (to me) Rolex. Have all black, wanted some color. Made some post recently asking what would you get, etc.

Problem 1 was from Mike...

Don't know why, but this stuck in my head. I guess short and sweet, 3 syllables. The gold I had in my head was a 16618 blue dial yellow gold. I like the older style cases and blue is definitely colorful. Then I thought about me wearing this to work. Pretty flashy and don't know that I want that attention. I work a decent amount, so wasn't sure what to do there. So I made a post about would you buy a watch you wouldn't wear to work...consensus on that was yes that you should buy a watch you don't wear to work.

Problem 2 was from Cru...

Re: the lugs, since you are considering the LV, you might find the LVc's lugs blend better with the brushed center links of the bracelet compared to your GMTIIc. Also, the dial and bezel demand so much attention (in a good way), that the lugs become secondary with the brushed SS nicely framing the watch head. So.....long story short (), consider the LVc.

I wouldn't flip the 111.... Great classic Luminor with a solid engine. Maybe just time for a new (colorful) strap.

So I respect Cru's opinion and thought I had at least try it on. Never have before. Dammit if he wasn't right. It fits nicely and I really like the glidelock. Lugs not as big as I thought previously. Green is nice, but pretty bright. On the fence at this point.

Going back to problem 1 (aka Mike) the Smurf comes out. I've seen it many times, but never tried it on. I don't like trying things on I can't afford. AD was like, "Just try it on....".

Crap........crap......crap......crap!

I shouldn't have tried it on.....

Sorry, no pics.

So, Mike and Cru, if your nose itches you know why....

I'm pondering what to do.

Be "responsible" and get a LVc (need another month or two to save the cash, almost there)
or
cannibalize my collection.
ss daytona, (pam 111 or 39mm expy) + cash for heavy metal.

I can't believe I'm considering it....

I say go for it if you can keep the Exp. That way you have a more conservative watch that is a lighter on the wrist.

I'll still have a 16610 and a pam 232. Not flipping those.

Well, my friend does want my Daytona but.....
For some reason I thought the smurf was a little cheaper than what I'm seeing on the forums. I never really looked as I didn't consider it.

BLASTED!!!!

You ask for advice because you know you'll get it. All of which tells you to get something. Even if you have to divest yourself of those you don't wear very much, you know you want something new.

Well, are you still wearing the Daytona on a strap? The WG Sub's bracelet will have the same shine with the PCLs and it will be heavy (in a good way). And it would be crazy (in a bad way) not to wear the bracelet...

But, you've got to go for what you love, and, if the LVc is in the running just because it's the "responsible thing to do", I wouldn't go down that route. I remember lusting after the LVc for months until I figured out a way to get it --- nothing would make me happy, watch-wise, until I had that watch.

Either way, you just discovered these two models, so, it seems like you need some time.

No I like the LVc also. Fit was much better than I expected. If I hadn't tried on the 116619 I'd probable be talking about the LVc now!
