I would look at either, but prefer TIGER for some reason. My grail 792xx would be linen dial with sticks (not numerals) and a red second hand. I would also like a white dial with sticks and a red second hand in a 792xx. I wonder if a dealer will swap out for a red second Tudor second hand?

Got my first Tudor chronograph, a 1997 in the 79270 series with TIGER logo. The dial is white with sticks and sub dials are black. I will post pictures later. Thanks to all in this thread for helping with Tudor Knowledge. I ordered an NOS Oyster bracelet which I prefer over the leather strap that came on the watch new.

I'll wait for my Oyster bracelet to arrive for a wrist shot. For now I'm thrilled with this white dial 79270 that the owner said he only wore "once or twice." The watch was a gift from a client named Tiger with business in Asia, all very interesting.

This is an old but amazing threat! I just bought a 79260P with a stick dial and a red stop-second had. The options at the time (mine is from 2006) where plentiful. I haven't seen too many stick dials black with silver sub dials and a red second hand of the stop function. It's just a great watch and it was on my time scale this morning -0.2 seconds per day it said! Wow just love it.

PS: The watch was new in box with a leather band. Owner said he wore it "once or twice" when it was new and put it up. I like the white dial and red TIGER logo.

Guys, this is a really awesome thread. It's been my go to the last few days as I decide whether or not to buy a Big Block 79180.

My issue - what I am hoping to get some clarity on - is I can't seem to find any reference as to whether or not the 79180 ever had a Rolex signed clasp.

I've seen two 79180 BBs now with Rolex clasps on the bracelet and it just seems "off" to me. Nevertheless, given Rolex/Tudor history, I guess anything is possible. That said, I'll be damned if I put up $5-$7K US for a Tudor Big Block without the original bracelet.

Appreciate any clarity that can be given.

The early chronographs did. I believe the first Big Blocks might have done. What I would say is that a Rolex clasp probably has more value. My Big Block has a Rolex clasp.

Thanks very much for the info. It seems those with Rolex clasps are commanding a higher price (slightly) and its good to know they do exist and are legitimate.

Unfortunately, I’m finding a few options out there that are being misrepresented based on the posts in this thread. I’m finding it hard to believe an early 90s big block would have that Rolex clasp. Thus the need for clarity.

Buy the best watch with the cleanest dial and thickest case. Don't sweat the bracelet/clasp. You will easily trade a Rolex clasp for a Tudor one.

Bought the NOS Oyster bracelet from a collector in California. He advertised the car on another website. I was amazed the bracelet was available and I got it.

Thanks!!! Yes, I love it, but I am after another Tudor chronograph with a different dial. I'll post if I get one (I like several different dials). The chase is really fun - a hobby, supposed to be fun.

Guys, perspective needed. Found for sale a 1992 Tudor Big Block 79180 - white silver dial with black registers, original case, dial, crown, crystal, chamfered hour markers, all lume dots present and accounted for, original inner/outer box, papers. Bezel and dial look great - 9/10. Only thing - the watch is on a Rolex Sub bracelet - 93150 - with Sub clasp, not the 78350 and Tudor clasp this watch typically came with. The watch is verified authentic and was recently serviced. $4600 with a return policy. I’ve inspected it and it looks great. First time vintage buyer so I wanted to see if this seemed like a fair deal. Buying the seller, not the watch as well.

Thoughts? Good deal or at least fair?

I’m also a big fan of the Sub bracelet and clasp as I have 14060M no date and feel the Sub bracelet is superior to the 78350/Tudor clasp.

That dial is interesting. I don't think I've ever seen one that is missing the Oysterdate / Prince Date under the Tudor name.

The dial is correct for the early pre 791xx models I believe.

Thanks Dan. I trade watches here in the UK as there are very few trusted sellers unlike the US. I have been asked to sell my 79180 so many times but I can't let it go! This vintage piece is a bit special

Is this a knowledge thread ?
Or a trade/show.... mine is better?
Not being funny ..... but there is enough other threads to show or discuss acquisitions.
When I first came up with the idea of buying a Tudor watch.... believe me, the amount of useful info in this thread made my life much easier....
Why not keep it like that for the future enthusiasts to retrieve important information?
Is just an idea........
