1974 Rolex 1601

Recently saw this watch on The Hodinkee Shop, and my heart skipped a beat:

Did one of our members purchase it, or does anyone here own one like it? Pics please!!!

I owned a 1601 bought in 74, TT, with jubilee bracelet, but I sold it in 94 (unfortunately).

Pretty rare on 1601 to have an onyx dial as the dial must be flat

True. They had a series of stone dials about that time; onyx, tiger eye, lapis, malachite and some wooden ones. The wooden ones may have been DD only.

Some stone dials...

Wood dial on a 1601 is very rare I have only seen one on a full white gold datejust which is rare itself cheers. The stone dial range expanded considerably on the day date 18000 series.

This is why I love this place. I never even knew these existed. The tiger eye is sooo cool!
