These threads are driving me bonkers. It's a watch. It does not give eternal life or solve world hunger.

While I'm well aware of all the BS that gets thrown by AD staff, when it comes to availability of new releases, especially one as white hot at the new Daytona, your particular AD may be giving you the best info he has based on either what his rep told him or his own past experience on how long it takes for him to get the hot new watch.
It just seems to me that just as there is a pecking order to which customers will get the watch first, there is likely a pecking order as to which AD's get stock ahead of the rest. The dealers that move a lot of watches or are in high profile locations will probably get more than one shipment before my local AD in the suburbs gets his first single piece. I'm sure there is some frustration in being a second tier AD in situations like this. That said, we know the watch is out and my AD has not gotten one yet. I'd bet Geary's in Beverly Hills or their boutique in Century City has probably received more than one.

To think we were all begging for this watch for 5 years, and now we should be grateful for all those years of peace!

First off congrats on the wedding - I was actually married that same weekend in 2012! Second the 200 number is a game - when that watch was revealed there were people that called around to every AD in and out of state that they know of on the travels. I would travel a lot and collect business cards of ADs. It's very easy to call all those numbers and get yourself on every list. When I was hunting for the Dblue I had actually saved up the cash and then went searching. I went to the local AD where I never bought a thing from and said I had cash. They were extremely nice and he said he would call me next when one came in but he also said that could be 6-9 months..... About 2 months later I was in Miami and picked one up - couldn't really pass it up. I actually felt bad because my local AD was so nice. I emailed my local AD the morning of the Daytona announcement and told him I really wanted to do a deal with them because I was so impressed with their service. I think he understood I couldn't pass up the Miami deal because when I was in there he talked about his struggle to get the AP 41mm chronograph. I was added to a list but was told there would be no deposits. Apparently there were only a couple other people that reached out (one person I knew but he wants the black dial so I'm not too worried) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I went into an authorized dealer a week ago to look at watches. When I asked about the new Rolex Daytona he said it would be at least 2 years before he would be able to get me one. I didn't ask about why. It was just an unspoken language between me and him that I was not one of their special customers so I can't buy one from them. Rolex is treating their customers like a street hustler who tell their customers your lucky to be hooked on my product.

Today, cafeteria, my bosses wife grabs me by the necktie and whispers in my ear "if you get a Daytona Ceramic I'll let you make love to me with it on" so there's that.

I feel very lucky not to even like the Daytona. All that barely suppressed hysteria about another mass produced watch. There will be many thousands of them in just a few years. Relax.

I went and tried them on at Watches of Switzerland Regent Street and asked out of curiosity how long the wait was. I was told 5 years. FIVE YEARS - "Do you want to put your name down?" "No thanks, I'm going to the New York office for a few months next year so I'll get one there"

The funny thing is, that no AD knows their allocation yet. The first ones were shipped before anyone expected to get them in. Only a few dealers in Europe have received them yet, so I'd assume US supply will be very dry for a month or two when Europe and Asia get their first batch.
In Basel, Rolex suggested ADs to offer them initially for people who have purchased platinum pieces from them before. Obviously this is 100% in ADs discretion. |

There has been 5-6 UK incomings posted on TZ-UK and given the small percentage of actuall buyers who frequent forums I'd say a few more have also been collected in the UK.

The truth is Rolex has discovered and perfected an new metallic alloy previously known as " Unobtanium". This material alone is what is creating the infinite delivery times previously indicated.
My bet is the street hustlers in NYC, Wash. DC, etc, will have the legitimate models by this coming holiday weekend. |
