I think it's just a reference to the box size.

I'm with Vinnie.

The test would be if it peels off without taking off a layer of paper. Perhaps it is for the not-so-bright ADs who cannot recall which box to use for which watch?

It won't peel off, its on real good. When I first saw it, I thought the S was a reference to the S after Oyster. In any regards, I wont see this box again for years, as it will get tucked away. Just was curious

Correct. For the DSSD, Sky Dweller, and PM pieces, it will be an "Oyster L" box.

It's not the size of your box but rather how you dance the mamba that counts

Oyster S - Only difference from the regular Oyster is a little more horse power and a sport mode.

That is correct Sir - Rolex does specify which box should go with each watch type from DJ, to SS Sport, to DD and SkyD

Never seen it printed on the box....must have some underbright sales people at the AD who gave a DD box with an Air King

There are THREE sizes I believe and I copy/pasted the info below from another member on here:

SMALL BOX: SS (stainless steel) watches with the exception of the DSSD (large) and Daytona (medium).
MEDIUM BOX: TT (two-tone) watches (including the YM).
LARGE BOX: PM watches (precious metal).

And to make matters a bit more confusing...Sky-Dweller has its own box and Platona has its own box.

Not sure if this is 100% fact but seems to make sense.
