1989 16610 - is this vintage yet?
28 years old with a gorgeous dark cream patina already ... I love it!

Beautiful watch. Love those micro bevels.
Most will probably say no and stick to the plexi only being vintage. We must be getting close to these early 5 digits being considered vintage. I have a Speedy from 92 and to me that is vintage. My first Rolex was a 1987 16613 and also consider that vintage but I think I am the minority in that belief. |

Don't care if its vintage or not, but it is totally classic which is the main thing. Beautiful watch.

I consider pre-1985 to be vintage but thats just me. Everyone has their own opinion as to what vintage is

It is if you want it to be. Vintage should be defined by age, not materials, IMO, and 1980s is old enough, in watch terms.

Soon enough anything with tritium lume and aluminum bezel inserts will be considered vintage.

Good looking watch in great shape
"Vintage" is just a label, not a definition.

Frequently asked question with no definitive answer, but I'd say at this point ..... yes, in my book. Stunning Sub! Tritium and aluminum, as stated above, will soon be part of the criteria.

Beauty - lovely condition. It's quite old, but not vintage, I think.

Anything with a tritium dial is already vintage for me. Later on, any model with lug holes or aluminum bezel will become vintage as well.

Great looking watch. Your watch is Vintage 1989. Autos are generally considered as "vintage" classic after 25 years. Watches generally 25-100 years then antique. Vintage is often misused, I have a Daytona C vintage 2016. Vintage is when it is produced not necessarily how old it is. Vintage is a wine term.

That luminous material has decayed rather quickly.

Regardless, it is certainly one of the prettiest 16610's I have seen. Beautiful patina!
