Icon20 One tough question, how many Daytona's were made?

Hey everyone,

Here' a tough question to answer, but let's see what people know or have heard about this:

How many manual wind Daytonas were made????

I've heard all kinds of numbers. Given that they were produced from around 1963 to the late 1980s, is it fair to assume that a large number was produced? And to follow up, how many were PN dials?

Hopefully this thread will get a lot of discussion going!

Cheers,

NZ

It's not rare at all. Difficult to guess as we are talking about big volumes.

Newmans are more rare but still not crazy rare. Every serious dealer seem to have at least one every time asked.

Rarity is not really the main thing when it comes to manual Daytonas. It's just a must-have for many and prices reflect demand rather than anything else.

Rare!

Just kidding. Yes, lots were made but demand is very strong. I think finding a truly nice examples of any Daytona is getting very hard and prices seem to reflect it, and finding a truly nice example of a 6263 is getting hard, and of a truly nice newman (other than 6239 perhaps) is getting.....
