A 'Revealing' Project

I've been fascinated by Rolex movements, especially the autowind, since a jeweler opened my first Submariner in 1964. And I like the old butterfly rotors. So I decided to be creative and assemble, from near mint parts, an autowind from the sixties and put it on my '65 5513. To make it continuously visible, I added a clear case back. (And no worries - I have the case back and autowind original to the watch should I wish to put it back in 'original' condition.)

Here is, I think, the attractive result - butterfly rotor on a '1520 26 Fine Rubies' bridge, with brass reversing wheels:

Looks great Al! I love the old movements. Simple and elegant in their own way. I had a 6538 with a 1030 that I restored a few years back and always thought it was a shame to not see the movement except in pics. Some of the purists may give you some grief, but your watch to enjoy the way you like. As long as you keep the parts, it is a quick and easy change.

They make an excellent case back. I have one for my GMT. They add a bit of thickness but look great! I love seeing the guts. Good looking watch Al. Love the gilt dial.

Your movement is gorgeous! Can't get enough! :)

TT 1675 16030 1603 16570.

The 1675 and the 16570 are from Thomas Priek and the other two from HK. Been wearing the 1603 about 6 months straight with no issues.
