Opinions on this Canadian 5501

Hey all.

I was out with my nephew yesterday and we saw this Canadian Explorer 5501 at an antique mall. My nephew really fell for it but I suggested he do some research before buying.

While researching he found that this same watch had sold on ebay back in December and it turns out the ebay seller and the dealer in the antique mall are the same person, (items for sale in his ebay listings are also on display at the mall.)

I was hoping to get some opinions here, because frankly I'm trying to dissuade my nephew from spending his money on what I think isn't the best option for him.

He loves vintage Rolex and this is the type of watch he would like to have but for $2600 CAD ($2000 USD) especially considering the watch sold on ebay for less than $2k CAD I think he can do better.
