Pics from ABC Watchwerks

I should have it back on my wrist next week. This is my dad's watch. They took amazing care on the chamfers, I think, considering how thin the lugs have become, over the years. I won't have it back for fathers day, obviously, but close.

Me too. My dad died right as I was really becoming an adult (it'll be 11 years, this July). This, and a Randall knife, is what I have. I've owned a bunch of Rolexes, but this is the one I care about. It's better than nothing.

For this service, what I asked for is conservative work, but the last work the case will ever get. I think I've gotten that. And right on schedule.

Wow that looks like a great job, any before pics?
You have to know that your Dad is smiling down on you right now.

I don't have a good pic, but this is what I have.

I'm not a religious man, but I'd like to think so. :) My dad had a black bezel insert put on (which I have), so that pic shows the Pepsi bezels that I sourced (the Pepsi bezel is what I remember, when I was a kid). The watch is a mongrel. my dad always had Rolex service it, but refused to have the white gold surround version of the dial put on, in the 90s, so I guess it's best of all worlds for a wearing watch. I'll never sell it.

It's always heartwarming of such a story of a rolex passed on by our family. It's amazing how they can restore the chamfers! Too bad I am located in Singapore and I would hate ship my precious watch overseas

Case came out very nice. A nice Mark I dial will put the finishing touch on that case.

So, I got this watch back in July, and it has been running great, and I've been extremely happy. However, a couple weeks ago I noticed that it started running slow. I only wear the watch a couple times a week, so I didn't notice at first (and this isn't my only vintage watch, so I have a properly calibrated accuracy expectation), but I did eventually. The slow down started out at -10 s/day, and is now running about -20/25. I've timed it with a couple iPhone apps, and the timing fluctuates quite a bit. I've timed other watches with the same apps, and they are all nice and solid, so I'm pretty sure it's the watch, and not just me being anal retentive. It hasn't been dropped, abused, knocked, anything else. I do keep it on a Wolf watch winder, and I thought that perhaps it had become magnetized, but I had it de-magnetized by a local jeweler that I trust to do that, and I've been either wearing it or keeping it off the winder for the last couple weeks, and that hasn't helped. The service is, of course, warrantied, and I'm absolutely sure it will be taken care of (I emailed Aaron about it, today, after it lost 10 seconds between 8 AM and 2 PM), but I'm wondering what might have happened, just for my own elucidation. Any ideas?

[edit: I forgot to put a pic up on my wrist, so here we go :) Excuse the dust on the crystal.]
