Please Give Me Your Advise About The Yachtmaster

My trusted ADs here in Ontario, Canada just offered me 20% off on either the Blue Dial SS Yachtmaster or the Rhodium Dial SS Yachtmaster both with Ref # 116622. The MSRP for this watch in Canada is $13,250. The total price with 13% tax in Ontario, Canada comes out to $14972.5. He is willing to offer me $11978 including the tax on both dials color. The AD will have to order it in for me since they don't have either dial colors in stock. I have a good relationship with the AD. I usually wear my watches for a few years then move on to the next model.

I noticed 2016 Rhodium Dial Yachtmaster still hold its value higher than the Blue dial. Please let me know what do you think about the price being offered to me and which dial color should I get.

Thanks in advance for all of your comments.

Good price, but buy what you like, not what you think has a better monetary return....
Blue would be my choice.

20% off a SS Rolex is a good deal. And I agree with Sleddog, buy what you like. If I were choosing between the two blue would edge out rhodium.

Rhodium is beautiful. At 20% discount I'd snatch it.

I got 18% off for my SS. 20% is even better. No need to hesitate on the price.
I like the Rhodium but I think it would dwindle on me over time.

Sounds like a good deal. I think I'd go with the rhodium.

I agree its a great deal and I would pick it up but only if the watch really sings to you.

Yachtmatser is a cool watch...basically a Luxe Submariner. I had one for a while but it didn't last. Its what u like though that matters.

You should get what you like.

I have no opinion on dial color since I do not like the watch and I do not shop by price alone.

Blue dial all the way!! But buy from a Trusted Seller instead. Resell is not too great so you may lose a lot if you buy from AD.

20% isn't enough to allow you to flip without pain. It's a fine deal if you want it and a terrible one if you don't.

Not pain but you will take a bit of a loss. I bought my blue for 20% off too. That was my minimum discount.

Of all the watches mentioned, the only one where can see the time distinctly is the one with the blue dial. So, either you want to possibly make a few bucks buying and selling the watch or you want a watch to wear and tell time.

It was love at first sight when I saw the Blue Dial 5 years ago, but ironically I never pull the trigger. I acquired quite a few Rolex watches ever since. Now I just want to go back and acquire my first love.

Thanks for all of the great advises and the beautiful pictures of the Blue Dial. Sometimes in life, it's not all about the money, but follow what your heart tells you.

I've said this many times...the blue dial YM IMO is the most underrated watch on TRF. And people rarely mention the red lettering, which makes the blue pop even more. As someone said before, classy AND original looking piece. Very striking.

Trust me blue dial YM is a great choice!! I've traded away a GMT 16710 and a WG Daytona and the YM stayed. I can't get enough of the blue it really is perfect!! f you never trade it's not about money but if there's even a hint you may trade down the line buy smart. You can find these watches in good condition below $8K USD.

Either way buy it and enjoy it!!

Blue dial you can get a 2008-2012 YM 16622 which has the grey/platinum dial for around 5-7k M-Series which has the rolex-rolex-rolex and put a oem blue dial for $300. I don't like the baby blue second hand, the red hand is beautiful to me.

the yachtmaster has always looked like a rich man's sub to me, despite my fooling around with the idea of getting one on and off, i always passed it up when the opportunity came.

20% off. To me that is almost a no brainer if you are buying from an AD. That's about the hit you take on depreciation walking out of the store. Plus, if it is on a watch you really like then go for it. The discount Gods have smiled upon you :)

Not good enough. I was offered 17% off and refused. Went grey and scored 32% off. I would have accepted 25% from the AD.

+1, ditto, etc. as I have trouble seeing the time on many watches.

The resale on YM is pretty hideous, except as noted on the Rhodium, but that's now - who knows what will happen in 2 years?

My advice, as always, is buy used if you can. Otherwise, buy what you want, the one you will enjoy, for you, not for the next guy.
