Whats The Latest On The Sea Dweller 4000 Market?
Has the value of the watch gone up since it was discontinued?

Dont bring up this since I sold one last year for around $7k...... this is up there with my parents selling our lake house and including a vintage wooden Chris Craft that the new owners sold about 8-10 years later for more than they paid for the lake house and the "free" boat.

I think it will in the long-run. At the moment, the best preowned price I’ve seen is roughly $8.5k but trusted sellers are closer to $9.5k preowned, $10.5k BNIB.
Regardless of price, it’s my favorite diver and a future classic |

They seem to be going up a bit. Who knows what it will do long term. It was only about a 3 year run. Certainly not rare.

Strangely enough, I was at my AD today getting my 116600 sized; they were impressed that I had it and remarked how it was no longer available. I asked about the 126600 and any issues with getting them and was told that all I needed to do was order it. I'm quite happy with this older style Sea Dweller. It's more fitting for my smaller wrist and is more in line with the lineage of the model. As far as value is concerned; I don't think any Sea Dweller has ever been a strong seller. I'll be very surprised if the 116600 gains any sort of cult following like the Daytona causing it to become sought after.

I love mine. It’s my favorite watch. I paid damn near MSRP when they first came out in 2014. Then the prices dropped. It’s nice they are coming back up. Feels a little “special” to have a discontinued watch.

You nailed it! So many questions, so many options, so many options to weigh, decisions to make. I know. I'll do something next week, just don't know what.

They have gone up. A friend sold a pristine example complete set for $8000 a year or so ago. Was the market price. Today he could have got closer to $9500.
Great watch that I think will be a future classic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I was lucky enough to trade in my SubC ND for a SD4K from a trusted seller in Sydney just a month before Rolex discontinue the model.
It's definitely a keeper for me and does not matter how the market fluctuate but this only ceramic model that works for me |

I took the plunge and added BNIB one last year for about $7.5K and have seen used ones in the classified section of this forum at around the $9.5K mark since being discontinued. I think it's very true that they've gone back up in the secondary market and getting closer to their MSRP price. Just my observation, others my have a different view!

Its higher than before they discontinued it but a little off from its peak. I think, like all watches (except the Exp II 5 and 6 digits for some reason), they will go up over time. The 116600 was one of the shortest run watches in Rolex history so over time i think it will find its place. SD's are slow to move up and then they spring up on you...like the Double Reds and some of the limited editions that are now as much as PN Daytonas (Think Omani SD's). The SD ceramic is going to be a future classic IMHO. In the meantime...ENJOY IT...its a great watch!

Imho, the sd4000 is similar to price increases in the Kermit when d/c and replaced with the Hulk.
A 3 year run is a short one for Rolex. |

It was the greatest modern Rolex Submariner, with all the new tech and classic proportions, but then customers' bad taste won out in the end and killed it. :(

I have no idea how it's discontinuation will impact the value, nor do I care, to be honest. But there is a somewhat special feeling knowing it's a discontinued piece with a short run. |
