I am getting impatient. Bergeon 7825

I ordered a pair of Bergeon 7825 tweezers and 2 rubber straps for my BLNR and DSSD-Blue about a month ago. Got the straps a week after placing the order, but the Bergeon is still not shipped!!!!
The shop told me their shipment has been held by custom and it is the same story every week for the past 3 weeks. It that normal??
I am growing impatient and the store customer service doesn't help either. At least they could offer me free shipping or a small discount, but nothing...
I am really close to cancelling the order, but seems like they are the only store that carry this tool in the US.
If someone has a used one they want to sell, please let me know.

I must have waited a month to get mine from OF lol

I didn't care because I didn't need it really. I would just be patient.

Yes, it is. It was originally said to ship on 9/8, then 9/12. Now, the website simply said it is back ordered. I called once a week to check the status. Still being held at custom. I wonder if they simply messed up the order and never had the item to sell.

It is painful to see the straps and not able to put them on...

You could try to use household tools and tape if you're bold

na.. I don't want to take chances. That's why we are spending $140 to buy a pair of tweezers.
By the way, I am surprised that there isn't someone out there making a cheaper version. Even at 1/2 the price, manufacturer will be making a huge profit. I say it cost no more than $10 to make it.

Took me a month and a half to get mine from an AD for Bergeon here in Toronto. They said it was coming from Switzerland as it is not a highly stocked item, hence the wait.

Don't worry when it comes in, it will be worth the wait

Most of our tools are ridiculously expensive, $140 for a springbar tool is not that outrageous. Unless you buy the overhyped Rolex ref.3200 (which I, *ahum* managed to break on a dirty Tag)

I work with fasteners and machine components manufacturers. Maybe I should try to work with someone to come up with an alternative tool.

You don't need the tool to change a bracelet but if it makes you comfortable, just wait!

Being a bit on the thrifty side I made my own.

The Mark I version and the Mark II version.

Both work very well.

Sent by Taptalk from my phone which rather annoyingly and randomly rotates my pictures the wrong way around whenever it takes a fancy. I am sure the damn things got a mind of its own. :-(

Slightly off topic, but do you guys feel this is a "necessary" tool vs. using regular spring bar tool?

Necessary? Definitely not, but useful and easier.
Since spring bars like to shoot off at the first opportunity, an easy solution is to do it with the watch in a clear sandwich bag.
That way, if the spring bar does make an attempt at freedom, it’s contained and saves you having to get down on your hands and knees to find the bugger!

ha ha, exactly what I thought someone should make. If the tips can be heat treated and harden, it will be perfect replacement tool for the Bergeon 7825!! How much did it cost? $5?

I am more worry about the spring bar scratching the inside of the lug when pushing the one side in.

Did you not read the first link?

Tips adjust from 6 to 30mm in width
Tips are reversible and can be angled 45 degrees
Includes one pair each - 1.0 and 1.4mm
Tool measures 105mm in length (with tips)

Where in the heck are the Chinese? These days they CAN make good quality tools. There is no reason in the world that a set of specialty tweezers should cost more than a hundred bucks.

My fault. Otto Frei has the same tool (so does Ebay having some Chinese made ones), but doesn't come with 1mm tips. This may just work. Thanks

yes, they can. a pair of tweezer with replaceable hardened tips shouldn't cost more than $10/pair. I think 90% of the watch owner do not do their own bracelet replacement. And 1mm tips only works with Rolex. But if Bergeon is the only company making it selling at $150/pair, someone should be able to still make good money selling it at $80/pair. Maybe I can start producing them and be a forum sponsor. :)

I have the same issue. I ordered it from oferi about a month ago also. They told me it is being held in customs. Sometimes that can take a couple weeks or so. I'm in no rush so I'm still waiting. I think they will ship soon as they just charged me today so my guess is it will ship in a day or two.

David.

The Mark I version cost nothing I " borrowed" the tweezers from my wife's manicure kit

The Mark II version was a pair of watchmakers tweezers out of a kit bought off eBay years ago.

Effective cost bugger all apart from a bit of cutting and filing.

I gave up on OF for that item, cancelled and bought the 7825 tweezers on eBay from a French seller on there. Slightly cheaper and came much quicker than the month estimate on the eBay listing.
