1665 Sea Dweller “Great White” Super dome

Hi

As far as you can tell from these photos is this an original super dome I have fitted to my Great White. It’s a 1977 mark 1 dial.

Thanks

Hmm .... Looks a little different to the super domes on my old 1665s. It doesn't seem to be as raised as I'd expect, especially around the outside where it meets the edge of the dial/case. However, keep in mind there were a couple of different kinds of super domes, including a service version.

Thanks Aaron. I had wondered if it was a service dome - but the examples of service domes I have seen have a quite pronounced high edge. Perhaps mine is an early service dome or an early variant of some description?

I’ll let the experts chime in, but I’d say this was not an original superdome but most likely a generic. It certainly doesn’t look like the superdome on my 1665 drsd. I’ve also seen quite a few over the years and none looked like this.

Thanks Eton. I think I have sourced a genuine new old stock Superdome. If its kosher then I will buy that and get my watchmaker to fit it.

X2. Definitely not a "super dome."

Looks like a service crystal to me.Finding these older SD’s with a true T39 Superdome is not easy.
