I would say the D blue only because it is produced by Rolex along the same lines as the 16610LV.

We all see what 16610LVs are valued at today.

The D-blue will be discontinued at some point sooner than later. I wouldent be shocked if the entire DSSD lineup gets discontinued and Rolex moves forward with the submariner and seadweller only.

Second paragraph bang on. I appreciate folk want to know about future values but rather read about people buying what they want not what it’s worth in 5 years or 5 weeks as is the case sometimes here. Enjoy your watch in good health whichever you choose.

Neither one. I think Rolexes are a fad and in a couple of hundred years they will just be a memory.

If it were my money, I'd bank on the James Cameron

From a collectors point of view the DSSD blue might look like THE one but it really appeals to a small percentage of Rolex watch wearers?

The SD on the other hand will appeal to a much bigger audience.

I'd go with the latter.

I was recently offered a blue and passed.

It makes a huge statement but I think the enjoyment of me wearing a watch that size would not last long.

I would be happy with pre owned DSSD black and pre owned Explorer 36 mm for the money spent on either of above.

You get a marvellous piece of engineering and true classic. The best in their league.
Unless you are crazy about extra colour line, then ks a matter of taste if you prefer blue and red fonts.

I'm afraid to say which model will perform better in value in the future , as normally the one I recommend usually nosedives into obscurity . But given they are both dive watches ,my choice would literally nosedive to the bottom of the Ocean.

Don't say investment, but I think the D-Blue will hold its value
