Yea. Negative. I don’t play these games anymore.

Had two different ADs back in the first SS Daytona hype jerk me around after multiple purchases. One manager even said buy this TT Sub and I’ll get you your SS Daytona while putting out his hand to shake.

I told him “When you physically produce the SS Daytona I’ll buy the TT Blue Sub” ( I wanted one anyway ) while not shaking his hand. He looked dissapointed and went outside for a smoke.

The dude got fired like 2 months later. Never saw him again.

Another AD jerked me around for two years telling me I “was next” all the while backdooring them out to friends, family and bigger fish than me. This after multiple purchases.

I found out from a disgruntled employee that I had been played.

Never again.

I know of a Black Sky-D in used condition that fetched $17k as trade in value from a Trusted Seller. I'd say that qualifies for HARD SELL.

He tells me, buy a few watches off me and I'll get both on your wrist within 12-18 months.

In the last month he has called me to take a Batman and a Hulk, and like an idiot, I declined - clearly they get good stuff... Could've easily taken them, sold them here at MSRP to someone that wants them BNIB from an AD.

Anyways, he calls me up and tells me he has a TT Dweller with a white face and again lets me know that this would go a long way in getting what I actually want. $17k watch, but I see them selling at a minimum slightly above MSRP and they're still fairly difficult to source, so I'm debating taking it to pass it off to someone who hopefully wants it, but hasn't been able to find it.

Dumb move, smart move, no opinion?

Thanks forum.
You made a mistake not taking the BLNR and the Hulk. You can’t have a relationship with an AD if you don’t buy anything. Both the watches you mentioned are still very much in demand and easy to flip. They aren’t just gonna hook you up with watches that are selling on the grey marked at a 4 k mark up. They may think you are a flipper. If you want a Daytona C and a Sky Dweller SS I think you should start buying something or grit your teeth and pay the premium for a watch from one of the trusted sellers.

Just my 2 cents. I can pretty much get any watch I want and my AD has all sorts of goodies in the safe. I think he is actually saving stuff for me. He showed me a Sea Dweller 4 K today he had tucked away and he’s got a Sky Dweller on order.

Far from an idiot. If you’ve got the funds and your flow is ample, then go for it.

BTW, I’m sure folks down here in Australia could be buyers for a Hulk or Batman if you get offered one again. Rare as rocking horse poop down here.

No way, not playing that game. I’d rather just pay the premium for one and tell that dealer to kick rocks.

If you think buying stuff you don't want and selling for a potential loss, to get something you want, is worth it.....go ahead. Why not just source what you really want, even at a small premium and save all the hassles??

Early congratulations. I hope this leads to you being able to purchase the two you really want in the future. Good luck.

So far, the watches that were offered, I don't think he will lose money when he sells them. But that dealer is no dummy either. He won't keep offering the hot models. If the dealer asked him to buy a hard to move, PM model and the OP turns it down, I wonder how happy the dealer would be and if he will still keeps his promise.

I get it and think that’s the new model with ADs, at least in this environment. Fleetlord cracks me up with his Trader terms but i would agree the TT is very risky. You should have and still should do this plan with the superheroes

I see "OP" referenced a lot. What does this stand for?

There could be worse watches to keep, that's a beauty

Maybe more fitting of the design than the white Rolessor aka SS versions. Very nice

Really is! I was staring at it last night, like it a lot more than I thought I would bc I'm not really a TT guy... It's a statement piece - I didn't put it on my wrist bc that's my first step towards keeping it. I put it in my safe and asked my wife to change the PW, I lack willpower

I NEED TO SELL IT QUICK OR I'M GOING TO END UP KEEPING IT AND THIS IS GOING TO TURN INTO A $17K+ DISASTER (which would then provide a definitive answer to the thread title)!

Struggling to figure out what I found most enjoyable about that email... Made me spit my water out, I really got a good laugh and have been debating a reply to pass the rest of this Friday afternoon.

I enjoyed him calling me "Mr. tbonesteaks," calling the Sky-Dweller a SeaDweller, some of the poor grammar, spelling his name wrong (I sometimes forget one of the "t's" in Matt), labeling himself a "well respected member of Rolex community," or closing it out "your Friend." Honestly, surprised he didn't make it "you're friend."

Anyways, highly enjoyed that email.

Ultimately, my hope is this earns me a good look at the tough to source watches that I don't want to overpay for.

I personally don't mind the buying and selling portion either. I've sold two watches and both buyers were very happy, it was actually a pleasant experience.
What is it that you're looking for ... a good price on an authentic Hulk (e.g. MSRP from an AD), or a future relationship with the dealer? If it's the former, separate the relationship and make this a time value money problem.

If you're willing to tie up $17k, which is somewhat at risk in the event that you can't resell the TT-Dw for what you're into if for (not incl. inflation losses), and that principal is not available for investment growth otherwise, why not determine what that $17k would earn for you in 6 months in a growth vehicle of your choice, adjust for inflation losses as well (could be significant on $17k over 6 months), sum those together, and offer that as the premium you'll pay to the AD. The AD can 2x their potential profit by getting a) the premium you offer, and b) their original profit margin from selling the TT-Dw to someone else. However, you avoid the headache of becoming a quasi watch dealer and putting your $17k at risk for 6 months, and you get your Hulk.
