Rolex SkyD or AP ROC 26331?
I posted this in the Rolex forum, but wanted to get input from the AP forum as well.
I've been on the list for 8 months at my AD for the SS Skydweller in the blue dial. #2 on the list from day one. Talked to the AD yesterday. They haven't even received the first one. No idea how long before I get mine. I'm getting impatient. It's not like I'm trying to order a Porsche GT car or a Ferrari 488 right? I know I know. Some folks are on waiting lists that span multiple years for Daytona C's and certain PP Nautilus models. Just not my thing though. I was sold on the Rolex ,but I got to try on the SS ROC in the blue dial. It's an amazing piece. Now I'm starting to think I should just forget about the SkyD and add the ROC to my collection instead? What do you think?

I want both. Blue ROC vs Blue Sky-D, I would get the AP. However if it was the black or silver ROC being considered, I would get the Sky Dweller, so i'm not automatically going to say AP.

I know this won't help at all, but I'd say both, too. Different watches, but both great. Good luck with your decision.

ROC would be my choice

I advised to wait over there, but over here I do prefer the ROC so I'd get that. Blue or Panda are very nice, depending on what else you have in your collection.

ROC no question. SkyD doesn't interest me at all - too cluttered for my liking.

Whilst they are both great watches and I bought both (well, a 15400ST, but still in the Royal Oak family) the Royal Oak is in a different league!

Having owned a few Rolexes and now and AP and Patek, my interest in Rolex is greatly diminished. Rolexes are great watches but I think just are missing that special something.
OTOH, AP is working on an in-house chrono movement to replace the 26331 but who knows when that will hit the markets. |

I obviously didn't get the memo re the skydweller. What is the hype about this watch, it's just a bling bling Rolex with extra bling thrown in just in case someone might walk past you and almost miss looking at your wrist.
I'd go for the AP which isn't trying hard to be a cool watch, it just is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a SD and I have an AP.
I would take the AP 10 out of 10 times. |

AP for me. Aesthetically, I am not a big fan of the Sky Dweller.

The AP is beautiful, the Blancpain movement is a great movement, I'd still prefer an in house movement in an AP Chrono at that price...But to be able to get an annual calendar two time zone watch in that price range and not call it special is cray

I was just looking for more diversity in the collection. I initially thought adding the ROC would skew too AP heavy in my small collection. When the SS SkyD came out, I was excited. It was the first Rolex in a VERY LONG TIME that I liked. It was a blue dial, bracelet, and an AC on top? I was sold. The ROC would have been another AP Chrono, making it a total of 3 in my watch box. After waiting up to this point, I am starting to wonder if it's even worth the wait anymore. Not happy with the games Rolex plays with their supply. Certainly not going to win over customers like myself. Nice combo there!

Obviously biased here but the ROC for sure. That being said, I do love the new skydweller

I had a thread between SkyDweller vs AP too...I went AP and am nothing short of absolute happiness. With the wait time playing a factor, I doubted my decision for a couple of days in between but when I received the watch I was overtook. Good luck!

ROC for me.
I like the sky dweller, but prefer the dial on the precious metal variants with the numerals rather than batons. |

Definitely the ROC. But then I'm biased as I think the SkyD is a most odd and unpleasant looking thing.
