Any PP or AP that would be considered “heavily polished” would not be for me.

You have 2 great Rolex watches...if you really want a 5205 I would wait for a better example.

Sorry to say that particular Patek does not sing to me.

If you are just a watch dealer and estimate you can make some bucks on selling the Patek later, it might make sense. But the response from TRF will likely be to not sell off your Rolexes.

I think after the newness of the Patek wears off, you’ll feel a bit underwhelmed and miss the 2 Rolex...why not all are the $3000 and put it towards another cool watch

Honestly I that Patek reference does absolutely nothing for me. I just don't like the layout of the dial. I prefer the classic layout of 3940/5140. While I find the 5205g much nicer than the ugly (imo of course) 5960, it just reminds me too much of that watch. No offense to any 5960 owners but that has to be one of the ugliest bracelets I've seen on any high-end watch. It's not a coincidence that ADs usually always have them in stock. Given that the watch has been heavily polished I would stay away. Is he offering a full set at least?

Either way as a big fan of the BLNR and someone impatiently waiting for a white dial 116500 I just wouldn't trade those specific watches for anything else except if someone were offering me a brand new 5711 or a mint 5712 and even then I would rather just buy the 5711 while keeping those watches.

It's Royal Oak or nothing with AP, and not even the new BIG ones that take my fancy. PP however... each to their own, I'll be a pretty good customer when I win the lotto.. a couple of times.

I am a PP collector and would usually say - if the money made sense YES. Usually good to condense, often the sentiment is get the best watch/watches you can. PP and Rolex both have the best resale, so the brands are good but the 5205....?

In this case I would keep what you have. You have a great watch in the Daytona which is still very tough to acquire. The GMT is great, not as tough to get but still a tough piece to acquire. You would be giving up two great watches for a mediocre PP reference (sorry 5205 owners) which by your own admission is not perfect (over polished). There are some PP references where this might make more sense but in this case - run, don't walk from this trade.

Is this a good trade? Ceramic Daytona + BLNR + $3K for Patek 5205

So this PP has a second hand, a minute hand, and an inset dial for hours. It just screams “kludge” to me. It’s a daytime-only watch with no lume and questionable visibility. Too much going on between the hour markers with windows for day, date, and month. The moon phase is poorly positioned too, being so close to the center post. Look how the minute hand is going to occlude the hour dial often.

I’m more of a fan of rugged tool watches with better visibility. To me, this looks like PP crammed too many complications into this watch just to be different. Classic case of sacrificing usability for somebody’s idea of aesthetics.
