Gmt II BLRO under a black light

Hi everyone
I have read posts about how the red ceramic bezel starts off as blue then undergoes a temperature treatment to turn red etc. a few weeks back I was dragged to a kids birthday party - take a look at what the bezel looks like under a UV / black light. Very strange, and cool. Check out the before and after - apologies if the pic posting fails and first go.

I heard somewhere that the bezel is red and the blue is somehow done on top of it not sure how true that is but it explains why the Blue on the BLRO is not so deep in color as its an overlay.

That is only in southern hemisphere. In northern hemisphere, it turns all blue.

Does this mean the blue is just illusory?

As I understand it, the bezel starts off all red (cranberry) and the other half is darkened to a darker red (cranberry) which is why it actually appears purplish rather than blue.

Likewise the BLNR starts all blue and half is darkened until almost black.

Super cool. Whatever they did to achieve those bezel colors worked out perfectly; they're just right.
