Rolex Submariner Increased Prices on Forums

Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here ever since I purchased my first rolex, sub-C 116610.

I see that submariner prices have increased quite a bit on these forums.

I remember when I bought my first rolex, you were able to find a decent, like new submariner for $7,000 -/+ last year.

The last few weeks, I see that prices for a used sub-c has increased to mid to high $7K range, and I've seen new ones go for $9,000 -/+ lately.

What's going on with the pricing on these forums? AD's still have them selling at $8600 (retail)

Any idea on why forums prices have increased on these submariners?

The demand is just higher than the supply at the moment. If the supply continues the way it is currently I would expect those numbers to potentially even go up.

Classic supply demand as Steve points out. Could be a price increase in the offing ...

Rolex cutting supply to drive greys out of business. Demand increases. Simple.

Actually the people who buy direct from the AD's are the ones affected unless they have a good relation with the AD, since greys will just buy and hoard whatever they can with no problem.

The ONLY way greys will get out of business is that consumers stop buying from them, but that will never happen IMO.

Sounds like the Subs are moving higher than the GMTs so points to a new Sub 3235 at Basel, and not others.

Redesign to make them look nice again, or just movement upgrade?

A lot of them get reposted many times and you never know what they really sell for. I still remember the days when you could buy a 5513 or 1016 for two grand or less.

There is a lot of hype about Rolex not shipping the rest of the year and supply drying up. I purchased a sub date at an AD 2 weeks ago at MSRP to gift to a dear friend.
Greys are loving it. I just saw a LVc priced at “only” $10,950 and sub date at $9,150

The reason is that is a shortage in this model.

Remember when gray dealers used to be a way to acquire new watches for a significant discount over AD prices? Now they make MSRP look good. I hope the gray dealers go bankrupt!

I just bought a new 114060 last week at the largest AD in Michigan and received a 7% discount so i ran with it. The next day they were sold out as well as almost all other SSsports and probably no more for this year, being there hasnt been a price increase in 5 years I was told that they expect a price increase next year.

There’s something in the air. It’s making everything seem like madness. My guess?

Sub Re-design AND a price increase across the board.

Current model sells very well so doubt they will change much beyond the mvmnt.

But remember this is all just speculation, if they were just upgrading the sub then is there really much need to stop supply on all SS models as announced? Or maybe then a general price rise is coming - but prices are so imbalanced in UK and other countries already?

So at the moment we still have far more questions than answers.

And when the market goes down, it is likely those same individuals who made the impulsive purchase that will be first to offload...
