Flipped and bought again

Hi TRFers,

As someone relatively new to Rolex allow me to ask you this:

What Rolex have you sold only to buy it (same model) again after awhile, and why?

Thank you for your replies.

If done this SEVERAL times. I realized later on that I had to keeps notes and remind myself why I didn't like it. I would sell a watch for a specific reason and later on miss the good things about it and forget what I didn't like. I'd buy the watch again and say, "o yea, now I remember what I didn't like about it.....and sell it again! Usually profited from my mistakes so I didn't mind at all!

Kermit 4 times
Daytona 4 times
16710 3 times
Sub date 3 times
Panerai 111 twice
Panerai 233 4 times

Learned my lesson finally (around 2008) and don’t re-purchase something I’ve sold previously.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I’ve done the following:

GMT (black) to BLNR to BLRO

TT Subc (Bluesy) to a 116619

TT Daytona (panda) to a 116500 (white dial) to a 116519LN

I had a white dial Explorer II 16570 that I sold in about 1998. I didn't like that the lume began to look yellow, which is now called "patina" and would have made it quite a lot more valuable than what I sold it for in 2002, which was a paltry $1,600. It was the tritium lume with the dial reading SWISS I T<25.

I missed it, as I was wearing an entry level SS Cartier Pasha whose exaggerated chain crown dug into me, and so in around 2003 I bought a new Explorer II, with a bright white face and fresh white lume that I wore daily until about 2005, when it went in a safe. I kept it until 2016 when I sold it for $3k because I found it dull and it never earned wrist time among it's competitors in the safe.
JCATT

Don't miss it at all.
JCATT

Wow, I can only imagine the aggregate loss you must have taken on those FIVE DJIIs. That's fascinating.

1) white daytona / 1 year / could read but really wanted black.
2) black daytona / 2 weeks / couldn't read at all.
3) ceramic black daytona / 3 months

all gone.

ceramic black daytona was in every aspect but one the perfect and most favorite watch i can think of... but i often couldn't read the time and usually just guessed at the minute counter... that became intolerable and i think I'm done with them now.

D-Blue.

I am a one watch guy (116613LB), however I liked the look of the D-Blue and purchased one to rotate with. I then decided I would never wear the D-Blue and sold it, I regretted it almost immediately so bought another when offered. I now wear the D-Blue all the time and the Bluesy lies in the safe.
