Icon14 First Panerai: 1392 or 682

Looking to pick up my first Panerai. Narrowed it down to the 1392 and 682. I like them for the 42mm size due to my smaller wrists.

Thoughts ok which one I should pick up as my first? Am I missing any other models?

Currently own the following: Rolex GMT, Hulk, and Bluesy.

Have you tried both?

1392 will look slightly bigger as it has thinner bezel but 682 will feel thicker because of the diver bezel

Another thing,1392 have sandwich dial while 682 has the standard divers' painted dial

I've never tried 1392 but have tried 392 and 682 and personally I like 392 better as it's more Panerai with sandwich dial and 6 & 12 numeral

682 for me without hesitation. Though I’d probably want it to be my 2nd PAM.

I’d skip the 1392. As much as I like the blue hand on the submersible, I don’t like it on a Luminor model with ecru lume.

I’d get the 1392, but then again I’m biased because I just got a 1392 last week. Also, you already have two dive watches and the 682 would make it three. Panerai doesn’t have a ton of 42mm options and I think you’re weighing the best two, in my opinion. I like the additional complications on the 1535 and 1537, but I’m on the fence about their ‘hobnail’ dials.

Keep us posted as to what you decide.

If you're only looking to buy new,it's tougher to recommend another models

If older models are okay,I'd suggest looking at eta based 40mm luminors or even the 42mm radiomirs as they're different from what you already have in your collection and some of them are powered with interesting third party movements (Zenith,JLC,GP)

For simplicity,check out 337-338

I would go with the 1392 taking into account your collection. I have the 1392 and it is awesome. I can pair it with so many straps and I find it way more versatile than the 682. The 1392 is an absolute winner, gives the Panerai look we all love, sandwich dial, cool lume, blue hand all in a bit smaller package (which is still way bigger than any of my Rolex). I tried on the 682 and it is on my radar as I love it, but I think the 1392 covers more ground.

Great choice given what you already have in your collections.

1392 vs 682

I went through the same process. I like the Sub style, but wanted something I could wear everyday as well. Looked at both at the Toronto boutique and it was a slam dunk for the 1392.
