PAM 190 Service Advice
Hi,
I am seeking advice on whether to service my PAM 190 or not. The thing I love most about this watch is it’s gold hands. They had to send to Switzerland because of the JLC movement. After getting the estimate back the description of the service scared me. I think what they are saying is the hands get damaged during disassembly and won’t be able to be reused. I just can’t imagine not having those gold signature hands. It wouldn’t be a PAM 190 anymore. What would they replace them with? If this is the case, are there any alternatives? Here is the paragraph for reference: Complete service This service aims at restoring the mechanical functions as well as the water resistance of the watch. It includes all necessary works on both the case and the movement, such as the dismantling, ultra-sound cleaning and full overhauling. The watch is reassembled with new seals, the movement parts are lubricated and the rate adjusted before undergoing our quality controls. In order to provide the best reliability, we also offer the complimentary replacement of all hands. If you do not wish to have them replaced, please note that we cannot assure you that we will be able to keep the original ones. Indeed, despite utmost care, they might not be reusable after dismantling. Thanks in advance. |

They’ll replace them with a new pair of original hands.

I've had a complete service on my 190 and they returned with the beautiful golden hands, no worries. And, yes, it went to Switzerland and it took 7 months. The bright side, when it returned I felt like I acquired a new watch!

"Optional" interventions
Thanks all for the advice. I feel much better now.
I have a couple other questions. Panerai is also suggesting "optional" service interventions. The watch is in nice condition including the face and bezel with no major issues visually. However they are suggesting the following service options too: BRIDGE POWER RESERVE FINISHED BRS RH SAT 1 200.00 MINUTE TRAIN BRIDGE JLC1877 1 200.00 DIAL BLK BRS SUP-LUM GRAD A 1 180.00 CRYSTAL SAPPH D=36.5 1 270.00 BEZEL RADIOMIR 45 ST POL 1 120.00 I wanted your opinions if I should also make these updates. I wouldn't want this to result in a drastic change of the "look" or value by altering the original aspects like the face, bezel, crystal, etc. Thanks again for your opinions. |

Optional means the only issue will be the final cost... So how much it would be with/without ?

I read it somewhere that the new gold hands are different than the original 190 hands,I've seen serviced 338 with bright gold hands vs the lighter gold colored hands on the original non serviced 338

The 190 hands are totally different than other panerai hands as the cannon pin is so much narrower on the JLC movement
