Modern Replacement Dial Markings
Hi Team,
I'm curious if anyone here has any experience or insight on the markings found on the back of a modern Rolex dial. For example, I found this picture on Fleabay for a 116710 GMT Master II and wondered what the markings on the back mean. Does Rolex match serial numbers of the dial to the watch? For example, if Rolex replaces a dial under warranty due to defects, can I go back to trace if the dial was indeed a replacement? Thanks! |

Parts are not serial matched, as far ad I'm aware some 'service' parts carry a small 's' to differentiate between issue and service parts, a good example is the crystal. Other than that I'm not aware of dials, bezels, casebacks, crowns or mechanisms being serial coded. Only the cases and chapter ring have unique serials

It's probably a part number for cataloging.

Thanks guys! Out of curiosity, does anyone have additional pictures of dial backs?
Cheers. |
