No but I just use some thin paper and with a pencil outline the area to be covered. Then I use scissors to cut it out. Then I transfer the outline to the 3M film, soak in water for a few seconds and slide it off the 3M strip and apply it to the clasp (or whatever). I use my fingernail to smooth out and let dry. Works well. Sounds more difficult than it it. I got the film oneBay as I recall.

I don't like scratches as well. After a few years of awareness, I keep all my rolexes pretty mint!
Scratches are inevitable, but they are all in pretty good condition.

I’ve had this since February, I guess I’m a bit hard on my watches. |

I was able to "buff" out some small scratches with the 3M Scotch-Brite sponge (green side). I need to now be more careful. I am not averse to scratches (and I like the analogy of cars & miles) but I need to just be more careful.

After 7yrs of scratching up my TT Sub at the office, I had the band restored by Rolex. Then I started using the scotch tape method. That was 15yrs ago and today my band looks as good as new. I'm about to buy a new TT Everose YM and will tape it right out of the box as well. Now I only do the tape method at the office, not in the wild.

I think most people just don't like plastic on their watches.

I fully understand you OP, it sucks to mess up your bracelet by literarily putting the watch on. I’d recommend what the others said about using clear tape. I wouldn’t buy those expensive plastics that 3rd party companies sell for a fortune.

The best way to protect your watch is to leave it at the store.

Don’t do this to your Rolex. Wear it and enjoy it.

From day 1 out of the box, I installed the Zagg clasp protector for peace of mind. Virtually invisible and I'm the only one will know one is installed. Years down the road when I remove the clasp protector, it will look like brand new.
But although with zagg, I am still very careful with door jams, desk diving, etc.. It's just nice having peace of mind as mentioned. Note: Both polished and brushed areas of the clasp are covered. Basically looks like a mint condition clasp without any scratches with it on. I believe the material is self healing as well. |

Isn't the coronet still exposed? Arguably the most important clasp feature when gauging condition.

Yes, it is exposed. I tried fitting one from left over phone screen protectors, no way of installing one without bubbles. This is why I went with the Zagg. I don't think scratches can be seen much on the coronet. I can live with scratches on the coronet :)

To each their own but this whole mentality of keeping a watch looking new forever is just ridiculous. What other material things do you wrap in plastic to protect from scratches and wear? Sorry, but when you start to reach middle age you realize that obsessing over petty things like this is silly.

I totally understand though why one would not care about these micro scratches. To be honest, I envy you guys and would want to be in your position. |

Implying that you are taking "better care" of your timepiece by covering it with plactic, vs. routine maintenance and proper cleaning, is quite subjective.
