I believe the service interval for the new movement is 8-10 years so I have all these years between between service. Having the zagg protector with only myself knowing it's on there, will have less need for the clasp to be polished/taken material off.. And yes, properly cleaning my watches is a routine for me. |

If scratches on the bracelet really bother you, then I'd suggest wearing the watch on a Nato strap instead, as it looks great:

What some people have done (and I don't advocate it) is buying one of those aftermarket bracelets for $30-$40. You could bang the crap out of them and when it becomes too much of an eye sore you buy another.

Rolex watches can take and look great with wear in my opinion. Old watches that look new/unworn/overpolished just look odd to me.. kind of like Rod Stewart.

There is a guy on eBay that makes them for all models, from 3m clear bra material he is a bit pricey but it’s worth it. All pieces are pre cut for the buckles and sides and bezels you just order what pieces you want.

is it though, I mean I guess but the amount of effort one has to put into "wrist awareness" just to keep a watch scratch free would seem to be challenging...at what point do your possessions start to own you
I like things that are new, and keeping my stuff nice, but one poster said above the older you are the more you realize that worrying over this stuff is too much effort. And for the whole plastic route, to each their own, but for myself I can't help but think of those couch images which are plastic covered, and at the end of the day I'd know the plastic is there |

Those clasp scratches look good. Every piece of that bracelet can be replaced down the road after 5 pro polishings. Try not to worry about it or get a cheaper watch. I find $4K causes me much less stress and also taught me that those scratches are really only visible to me. Nobody cares about anything but the dial if they notice your watch at all.

This is one of those cases where the watch wears the owner.... nothing is cool until you wear the new off!

That photo proves that from very far away, you don’t even know it’s there. Up close, a whole different story.
No one really enjoys scratches but You can’t live your life like this either.

i assume you also get botox for your face?
please don’t take offense - i’m being facetious. but that’s how i continue to feel about this whole mentality. why drive a nice car if you’re afraid to get it dented? why buy nice shoes if you’re afraid to get them scuffed? why buy anything, because life happens. yes, a rolex is an achievement, and it’s a lovely piece of kit. when i bought my first rolex i was paranoid about scratches and the such. but eventually i came around to the conclusion that i’ll be happier not worrying about something small like that. it’ll get a refresh when i have it serviced; and until then those scratches tell my story to me. my batman clasp looks brushed at this point. it doesn’t bother me. again- i know i’m not the only one who thinks this way, and everyone has every right to do whatever they see fit. i just feel like it’s an unnecessary headache.

Just take a deep breath, strap the watch onto your wrist and go out into the wild, yes you will get a scratch or two very quickly but over the years you won't notice as the watch becomes part of you.
And when you get the watch serviced it will get a nice gentle polish and come back looking like new, just got my 10 year old Seamaster back from Omega and its like having a new watch. Enjoy the watch and wear in good health.

You look like you need the protector the next size or two down.

Is the OP really serious? On 5 series, with the clasp stamped to look like the rest of the bracelet, I've found it hard to see scratches, except on the bluesy and the TT GMT.

No thanks. I wear my solid gold watch. It doesn't wear me. Covering your watch in protective plastic is tacky!

I've yet to see a watch with bits of plastic on it that doesn't look ridiculous. The ones with little squares cut and stuck on every bracelet segment look utterly ludicrous. If I bump into anyone wearing one I'll be sure to tell them so.

I suggest not telling the OP what his value system should be, or if it should be like yours.
