submariner and GMT II case backs question

My question: is there a submariner case back that will fit correctly on a 126710BLNR case? And by correctly means with a proper seal for water tightness etc. Why you ask - well it's pretty simple:
- with my medium sized wrist (6.75 in), and it's relatively flat shape where watch sits, the thicker sub case back gives me just enough "lift" of the case edges & lugs off my wrist (so they don;t dig into wrist with any movement)
- the thinner GMT case back on the newer GMT IIs, does not provide enough lift off wrist to avoid case edges & lugs to sometimes dig into skin
- note that the 16710 GMT II I have wears just fine as the case edges and lugs are not prominent (on the newer GMT II cases)

I really like the BLNR GMT II, but it would only be worn on limited occasions - unless I could properly fit a (thicker) sub case back on it. I know, kind of crazy, but thought I'd ask the experts.

Other question would be if a 97200 (sub) bracelet will correctly fit on a 126710BLNR GMT II. Thanks

Why not glue some quarters on the back? In all seriousness it could work, but you’ll be left with an unwearable sub. And any RSC will switch the back back to factory set.

i believe the caseback on the sub is thicker for diving and water pressure purpose.

No idea if the caseback has the same thread pattern or diameter …

submariner and GMT II case backs question

Sounds like a question for RSC. My guess is that they are not interchangeable, emphasis on guess….

The sub case back does have more "depth" to it (as can be seen in profile) to resist the higher crush forces going down to 300m (versus GMT II rated to 100m). Whether it is made with actually thicker steel is a good question. Then there is the precise diameter, thread pattern, and then seal to consider between the 2 case backs (and their mating cases).

You cannot interchange these casebacks. I’m not sure about the thread pattern specifically but the internals/respective movements inside each model are incompatible to a caseback swap.

I would ask Rolliworks or someone who deals in parts. I would think it would work.

It's important to note that you cannot swap the casebacks between these models. The thread pattern may be a factor, but the internal components and respective movements within each model are not compatible for a caseback interchange.

Not affiliated, but I have these Hirsch anti-allergy case stickers and they add just the right amount of extra lift for my Seamaster to improve the fit.
